It’s a wild few months. First, with the absolutely unexpected spike in SBD, Steem has quickly caught up and shattered its previous all-time-high. $8 Steem. Jeeeeezus…

But like this title states, we’ve seen nothing yet.

A Near Future of Higher Highs

Not much has actually changed with Steemit in the last several months. Sure, we’ve got a swanky new night mode and more vibrant dedicated logo, but in terms of major utility developments, there’s still so much more in store for Steemit and the Steem blockchain.

Here are just a few reasons why 2017 will be a drop in the bucket compared to the gains coming up in 2018 -

Steemit Inc. has yet to release it’s dedicated wallet. A crypto without a mobile wallet (whether dedicated or universal) is like a car without an engine. It just won’t go the distance. Enabling new and existing users with easy thumb-empowered transfers will make buying and using Steem in everyday life that much more compelling. Imagine being able to donate and upvote in real-time to real-life activities or use instant payments for goods. With the excellence of the Steem blockchain, all of that would be possible with a downloadable app.

No major marketing. I know this has been a contentious issue and supposedly done on purpose to pair with hard fork 20 for mass-onboarding. Regardless, we’ve witnessed the effect of persuasive marketing campaigns in a bull/speculative market. People are driven by FOMO and always hunting for the next big thing. Polished videos and crisp graphics nurture trust and interest.

No communities yet to retain dedicated users. Compared to the amount of new accounts and sign-ups, Steemit has a relatively low retention rate of daily active users. With the current interface, it’s fairly difficult to keep track of your Steemit friends and maintain strong interests groups. Communities looks to upend that reality and make it much easier for people to connect and build off one another.

SMTs. Smart. Media. Tokens. Most of us remember what happened to Ethereum when ERC20s started dominating the ICO market. The same is currently happening to NEO and will happen to Lisk and EOS. Once SMTs are out for the public to use, I can’t imagine every type of media website will want to try out the Steem blockchain for their own personalized token.

Each one of these is enough to make the market price jump at least 15, 20% in other coins, if not straight up double them to the moon. Steem has been able to ride to new highs this past week but those haven’t been due to explicit advancements by the Steemit Inc. team. When these objective improvements and onboarding feature come online, you better believe that we’re in for some major verticals.

This is all of course not even looking at the quality of the Steem blockchain. It's speed, features, community, multi-dev open-source support, and so many more components make it one of the most promising cryptos in the ecosystem. Looking Ahead

What’s incredible, at least from what I see and the people I engage with, is that despite the major price action, few people are selling the bulk of their holdings. I think this is due to the long-term dedication of the Steemit community that stuck with the platform during all-time lows and will continue to stick with the currency and platform during all-time highs. We know not to prematurely shoot of our profit margins and we all know that major advancements are in store for us in the months to come. We’ll soon see double digits, maybe even 3 figures before year’s end.
