SEC16 W6: “My photo album as a woman"

Hello! It's another week with so much activities to take part in. Hope we are all ready. I would be taking you through my photo album . These photographs bring to my memory special events I enjoyed and those I pulled through with after struggling to find my feet. Please, stay with me.

This photograph was taken by me in the early hours of my birthday; 11th March, 2020. Of course, birthdays are supposed to be days one should celebrate and be celebrated but I'd say mine felt like it before it got a bit sour. My friends and family members had called to wish me well, some made uploads on their social media accounts and earnestly I felt loved. I had planned with my friends to have a little party and I kept procrastinating the necessary arrangements that were to be made at the venue so the party would go well. I ended up getting everything fixed for the party super late and that toiled with my emotions during and after the party. Getting to take the items we took to the venue back home, was a bit difficult since it had gotten dark. To think I ended up crying to bed because my parents were not happy with me made matters worse. Through this I have learnt to always make the necessary arrangements before the slated date of any event I would be handling. The photo is also a memorable one because of my hair. I lost a lot of volume after this period.

Here is my Mum and I. She has been my go to person and this makes this photo memorable. On this day we had gone to church together and after church service we walked back home instead of paying our way. We had our best moment as we had ample time to talk about matters that got me disturbed and also took lots of photographs. I had my bonding time with her.

I had to smile even when my brain seemed as though it was playing a prank on me. This was during a semester's examination and I had a Chemistry course examination to write the day this photograph was taken. That was one of the difficult courses for that semester. I actually thought I was ready to write the course since I had started reading it up from the beginning of the semester, not until I saw past question papers and I told myself "I am done for". The speed with which I tried to understand the lecturers' questioning patterns was one I have never experienced. Worst of, it felt as though I couldn't give correct answers to the questions I understood. Apparently, my brain was playing with me because what was all that! I left for school few minutes later for the exams, saw the questions and I was able to answer most of the questions. This memory keeps coming whenever I begin a new semester to remind me that it is important to understand my lecturers' way of thinking and setting questions if I want to read aright and also ace my examinations.

I had a presentation to do on this day. The presentation was one that I dreaded. This was because those who had experienced it had one thing or the other to say about it and on the average those things made me a bit scared. We made the presentation in a group of five. Although my fears almost got a large part of it, we were able to do a good presentation and give suitable answers to the questions asked. With this experience, I learnt how valuable team work really is as each member of the group made another feel comfortable,collective and calm. I also learnt that fear doesn't take out what was meant to happen we just always have to do these things anyways and to the best of our ability.

A journey I had envisaged to be boring turned out to be interesting. So, I travelled home for my cousin's wedding event that was to take place in a few days. This time, we didn't take the route we do take home, we decided to try a new route though longer. It was a memorable journey because I had first hand experience of how less busy and free the route usually is like I heard. The sight of the oil palm plantation by the sides of the road was worth it. Saying it was a beautiful sight really hasn't done justice to what I saw as everywhere looked green and original. The farmers actually took their time to get them planted in an arranged format. I took notice of different routes leading to villages I had heard about without knowing where they were located. Oh, is it the feel of fresh air! I took in a different kind entirely and I know this because I felt different. I love travelling and getting to know new places and this was a win for me.

This is my photo album as a woman and the reason why each photograph is special to me. I have learnt to keep photographs that depict events I had fun and those I had lessons to gain from. I hope you can do this too.
