Abbey of Light - Castle Oybin

This photo was taken at the Castle and Abbey of Oybin beginning of June while visiting with a hand full of friends. This impressive ruin sits on a 514m tall mountain rock formation with an incredible view over Saxony. The original structure was build in the 13th century and still breathes the medieval history. Its quiet yet intimidating.

My friend Danilo got a monks coat to wear and sat down in the ceter cove of the main hall. With my Laowa 12mm 2.8 set to F8 and ISO 250 i lit up the hall and drew the light / life line for the Cross on the wall. It did take 154 seconds in total in a single exposure. Just like everytime there is no Photoshop effects involved here. Just some crop and de-noise, white balance etc.
I love the simplicity of it which goes very well with the church and the history of it.

Anyhow if you love it as much as i do leave a comment or an upvote - Any sign is appreciated and motivates me to keep my work going.

Hell, yeah!!!! Oh sorry, to mention The Devil... :D Well, you did great job here in few aspects.
First of all overall composition with low shooting angle and very wide angle lens. Just a perfect decision to get this (I repeat it again) EPIC view if this abandoned church, making walls much more higher and leading our view to the night sky.
Second, overall idea of a priest praying at this (maybe sacral) place just perfectly combined with a light painting of a cross on the wall (and with some additional lighting on the walls from sides)
Simply insane final result!

Thaaaaank you so much @axeman - your judgment is highly appreciated and it's great to hear that you actually looked for the same things that I decided on. Awesome, that makes me proud. Thanx again. 🙏

That's great! I love it because you always go with your friends, with the costumes and everything, You are very prepared, I can imagine the amount of things that you carry in your outings and when you arrive at the site you do your magic. Your friends are great always help you!

I like the structure, because of what you say has a lot of history, you have made a more current version, the cross and the boy makes me think of the ancient times of the church.
Heaven, he killed me!

So amazing view. You definitely catch my attention. I would like to visit there too.
