Meet a New UsersteemCreated with Sketch.

I talked to a new user from Nigeria yesterday named @ced000.

He had just authored his first post on Steemit and was inquiring about using an app to view steemit.chat (Rocket Chat).

We had a long chat about how to best use Steemit, a few tips here and there, what to post. You know, the usual thing that any new user wants to figure out before they misstep and their little minnow stake gets demolished by some bigger fish offended party. Something like accidentally using the steemit tag. You know how that goes.

So few people help minnows that he asked me if I'm customer service. This is the second time this week that I was mistaken for an employee. The first time was by one of the new witnesses.

Anyways, life in Nigeria has some parameters one must get used to. One of these being power outages. @ced000 said the latest lasted a whole week. It's not that easy for a user, depending on where they are, to write eloquent 90-minute-long posts (see what I did there?) when all they have is their mobile device on battery power.

I'm hoping that this guy sticks around and gets his footing here. Check out his account and maybe throw him a vote instead of ritualistically wasting your VP on your own comments (which just makes you look like a dick).

NIgeria is indeed quite notorious wrt power outages. Most companies have generators and even backup generators. When I was visiting my telco customers many times some time ago, I had to do the meetings with the light of my smartphone, many times. Generators either did not have the necessary fuel, or was just broken while the backup generator was used to get spare parts from to repair the main one.

I've heard the same thing from people running businesses there. Their number one priority is fluel.
