And so the long awaited project has being completed, this was a commission work giving to me by a client and am so happyi did this work. During the process of this drawing i learnt and also developed ideas on how to draw a ladies hair it was quiet challenging because i don't really have much materials though, but what would i do 🤷 one just have to make use of what he or she has. Art materials in this part of the world where i come from is quiet expensive thats why most artist don't joke with their charges for a portrait work.

A life spent making mistakes is not only honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing. # George Benard Shaw

The available materials i used for this work are:

-Charcoal pencil ✏
-graphite pencil HB, 2H in which i used in highlighting my work
-kneaded eraser: this was used to fetch out unwanted charcoal graphites from the work
-Eraser: used for same purpose as kneaded eraser
-Tortillion/paper blender: This was used to blend the shades on the drawing
-Cotton bud: The use of cotton bud is not really different from tortillion or paper blender... But one thing with cutton bud sometimes it tends to grab charcoal graphites from your work, so when drawing be very careful on how you conduct your application of the cutton bud

Tonal gradation

At the course of doing this work i paid so much attention towards tonal gradation, because its a factor that needs to be considered when drawing. in my own definition i see it as the difference in tones of shades, which comes in series of grades.

Ones you'are able to differentiate between light and dark of a picture, shading it wouldn't be a problem the only problem would be the act of application, in applying shades to a skeletal sketch alot of people find this very challenging becuase this is where the whole work lies.

  • Tips on shading
-when shading a picture always ensure you have like a paper resting underneath your hands so you don't dirty already shaded areas, you can as well use hand gloves though.
-When shading always ensure to start from one points to another sequencially, don't randomly shade you work you might end up spoiling it, what i mean in Essence you can start shading from top to bottom or from right to left
-Avoid putting to much pressure on your pencil
-use you paper blender with care also avoid adding pressure to it.
-develop you own pattern of shading there are different ways to shade each artist have their own method of shading.
-When using your eraser and you discover the tip is dirty make use of a blade to chip it off

Thanks so much @angelacs i really appreciate your comment, the journey has being rough but it only gets better with time.

You deserve every complimentary word shared, @guchidan.

Keep going, no matter how tough it gets. Have clear inner vision of what you're working towards... a simple picture... and keep it in mind and heart, especially as you awaken, go to sleep and when things are not going as you choose.

Helps to shift your attention and therefore your energy/frequency/attracting power to what you're choosing to manifest so you don't waste on worries, upset, tough situation. Very powerful, simple but easy to be distracted, so keep picturing what you want until it manifests in to your life, then go for next easy one on your list until you build confidence and want to go for bigger heart desires.

Cheering you on and soooo proud of you, who you are being and what you are doing each and every day, sharing your love for life through your art and your words and your journey. Namaste.
