The Race

A number of people awaken simultaneously, to find themselves in the starting blocks of a race they are told is a journey of as yet undecided duration.

A man with a starter pistol explains that they should not concern themselves with the question of how they arived at this point but should understand that starting this race will earn them a meal and that there is no other means of acquiring a meal.

Furthermore, if they progress at an adequate rate, they will receive a meal as often as they have need thereof, along with other comforts they will be aprised of in time.

Leaving the race will result in incarceration in a dark and restricted environment for an indefinite period or even for eternity.

Finishing the race will result in rewards of great measure while winning the race will be rewarded with complete freedom to enjoy every achievable reward.

This is the only information provided before the start and without any additional information these people are unable to assess the voracity of these claims and the race is about to start.

Just before the starting signal some contestants leave the starting blocks and are arrested and removed from the environment.

As the pistol fires all but a few remaining contestants sprint away with the intention of earning the promised rewards.

Those who remain at the start are given a meal and a bed for the night. The rest do not learn what becomes of them after that.

Some drop out at various stages and receive their last meal and are then shipped off the following day to who knows where.

A number of contestants finish the race together and are declared the winners and receive the freedom to do as they please so long as their actions do not impinge on the rights of others in any way.

The rest of the contestants finish the race and are afforded the basic comforts of life so long as they continue to act in unison with the requirements of the system.

What would your decision have been at the start of the race, before you had any knowledge of these results, but only the brief introduction of the invigilator ?

Are these conditions not similar to the promises made by various entities purporting to have knowledge of the voracity of their claims?

If the race represents the requirements of maintaining our conscious existence and the results, our various capacities beyond this life, is there any benefit in chosing anything but embracing this oportunity with full purpose of heart?

Life is full of inspiration from those who have asked and answered this question and those who stand approved for their suggestions are those in the main, who advocate endurance in this journey we call life, with best intentions as the core of our motivation.

I cannot conceive of a valid reason to discount such advice and applaud all who come to this conclusion.

Strive and endure to the end and be rewarded, for all else is folly.
