Dine like a viking
Vikings has been famous explorers. I read of their great exploits in history books as master boatmakers and seafarers. I have day dreamed about them as I read romance novels of them tall, strong and handsome in short alpha men. But I have not read of them as lavish diners like the Greeks. So when my teammates decided to eat at a restaurant after them expensive as it is at 900plus php for a buffet experience you can bet I didn't show up late.
The ambiance was posh. The glass chandeliers were impressive. But what caught my eyes was the international dishes all for me to taste.
For expensive buffet like these, I like most people wants to get the most of it. So I dig in first to the meat I couldn't bite on a normal day. The lamb was mouthwatering though it have a distinctive taste and I felt warm after devouring it.
This ham was juicy. I love the caramelized pineapple that garnishes it .The smell of sweet ham was as appetizing.Carved thinly it was an indulgence. No wonder in Philippines it's not Christmas if there ain't a ham.
These meats I also tried but in moderation and they are high in sodium and not so kidney friendly .Too much meat produces uric acid which also creates joint problems like arthritis and gout
After that section I went to put my mouth on those creamy cheesecakes. All sinfully high in fat yet so photoworthy.
I heard Vikings roam the globe before. True to. It's name this restaurant is in any major cities of the country. They attract local ana foreigners alike for their wide selection for foods to deserve from. See my team mate giving in to its sweet temptations
It is indeed a paradise for all food bloggers and the fact it caters to all diet preference makes it a must stop for all food enthusiast.
I was particularly impressed by the fruit carvings and the ginger bread houses. They take skillful hands to achieve such perfection.
They are too beautiful I wonder how many hours was poured in creating it. I seriously wonder how much practise it takes to master such skill.
Then I move on to try the Japanese section
The thing with food it takes you to places you have been or not been to. From the food presentation alone one can get an idea as to the country it originate from. With Japan, the taste is as important as its visual appeal. Like always I am drawn to them.
The tempura made from battered prawn was superb.
I then proceeded to Korean Station.I love their selection which are nutritious and hot. I know it's time consuming to prepare these dishes and it's not right to just dump them down my throat so I chew small portions of them while I reminisce on my South Korean trip this year
Next on my palate list was the cheese as they are pricey being imported from other country. How I wished there was free wine also. But man it was an experience
Of course I also couldn't resist the Italian dishes with it's pizza and pasta.
Born a Filipino I also tried the desserts from my country. This below is halo halo a shaved ice with caramelized fruits
These are other Pinoy desserts to try if ever you get to visit my tropical country
These are made from sticky rice and sold almsot everywhere in my country. Paired with cup of coffee, chocolate or ginger tea these makes a good selection for small chitchat or light snacks.
These Filipino food are made from banana fruit with coconut cream and seaweeds respectively.
In a bid to eat healthy, I also went out to try the Taiwanese section with their Shabu-shabu where ingredients are simmered in boiling water then added with sauce of choice be it beef, chicken or pig soup.
Of course how can one forget Chinese foods. You'd probably know by now that Asians utilize all parts of the carcass. So it's common to see spicy chicken feet or buttered intestinal organs like these below.
And of course you are familiar with their steamed buns and taho or soya beans
Yes we did a lot of pigging out that day before we exchange gifts. I had to loosen my jeans to be honest. Gluttony is a cardinal sin according to religious teachings but if it ain't everyday you get to bite into these variety of foods in pretty sure you would do many servings as we did.
In many first world countries it's not how much but Whats the quality of the food that matters. So in this note chefs take time plating them and I would say I was impressed
Yes it's an experience one must have to eat to one's delight. One tip, if it's your natal day one of your guest eats for free. And just so you know they also give out complimentary cake and perform for you also How cool is that
We drank juices, tea, beer and coffee all. unlimited so as you can guess I felt fully loaded especially we stayed till they close Hahaha blame it all on these mouth watering foods which makes you forget about the calories .
Tell me how can you say no to these Spanish seafood paella and other goodies.
