Grapthar's Song of the Day: Talking Heads 'Thank You For Sending Me an Angel'
Talking Heads - Thank You For Sending Me An Angel
Talking Heads are definitely
one of the most unique bands ever. They gained notoriety during the rise of the early punk scene in New York, along with artists like Patti Smith, The Ramones, and Television, although they were always sort of outsiders musically. They would come to be known as a new-wave band, but they incorporated elements from practically every genre, including world music, funk, punk, and rock, and always seemed a lot more "artsy" than other bands from that era. They wrote harmonically complex, interesting songs, that would establish their influential for decades to come.
Listen to Thank You For Sending Me An Angel by Talking Heads.
This song is one my favorite's
and has a great, catchy guitar line, and bouncy, fun rhythm to it. Considering this was released in 1978, it was definitely ahead of it's time. It was "simple" in certain ways, which made it stand out from the Stadium rock that was huge at the time, and yet it was creative and unique, and still maintained a poppy element. This song is sort of the prototypical "art-punk" song to me, it's definitely punk in some ways, but stands completely on it's own musically.
Hope you enjoy the song! Thanks for checking out my blog, and Steem On!
