Graveyard Shift: Really bad, i mean really really bad

Since I have been focusing on Stephen King movies lately I figured i would throw one in from the other side of the spectrum. Green Mile = awesome, It = ok, Graveyard Shift = steaming turd.

So at first the story seems creepy and interesting enough: A textile mill is re-opened (in Maine, of course) and a few of the workers meet their untimely end under strange circumstances. Instead of shutting down the mill and doing a full on investigation, they continue to operate (they must not have OSHA in Maine.)

What is so wildly stupid about this film is what is causing it. The deaths all occured at night (the graveyard shift) and upon further investigation it is discovered that under the mill there is a maze of corridors that lead to a nearby... you guessed it, graveyard.

The people had been killed by rats and there is even a "queen rat" whose job is to keep making more babies. The rats also have a fearless leader - a giant flying bat that hunts humans at night. It is just such an extremely dumb premise that i suppose the only reason to ever watch this movie is to see how many times you will roll your eyes and try to imagine how anyone in Hollywood thought that it would ever be a good idea to make this thing.

the movie bombed and is currently near the bottom on all online lists of films. Watch this only if you want to laugh at how bad the acting, story, and even puppetry is.

Graveyard Shift is a contemptible piece of crap. That it was based on the wonderful and creepy short story of the same name is even worse. The story and the film have very little in common. The monster in the film is NOT in the book and I highly recommend that you read the story and forgo the movie entirely. The movie itself is horribly done with horrible acting save the performance of Brad Dourif, who is always good. Brad must have been hurting for money because this is obviously just a payday for him. Bottom Line: Unless it is your mission to watch every film based on King's work, forget this movie ever existed and go back to your life, which is better off without the memory of this movie anyway.

Hahahaha 1/10, the story seems wack enough. Truth is, i dont think every book should have a movie. Some novels should only be kept as stories and not movie because they might seem too difficult to display on the big screens.

I will love to watch this movie to see how bad it is 😂

What a foolish movie truly @gooddream. Rats and bats killing humans. That is pretty childish😭😭😭. This should've bean a cartoon instead. It would be good if the movie was haunting. It would've added more thrill to it. Thanks for the movie though. Keep on posting some other.

Man, I wish I had something cool or insightful to say about this film, but it is awful. It's almost impressive in how bad it is. Almost. It doesn't go full on in a way that most cult classics do so you are just sort of left with a dull mess with one of the most underwhelming monster reveals I've ever scene.

I never bothered with that one cos I heard it was a steaming turd.

I guess you confirmed it, though you have me laughing about how even the puppetry sucks.

Now I feel like I have to watch it to see the puppetry. :0

I found it super traumatic for me, I thought a moment to see it but after reading your synopsis scared me a little. In the end I just felt sorry
