Dumb Movie Decisions contest!

People in movies make some pretty horrible choices that have terrible repercussions. When watching some of these scenes it seems like lazy writing on the part of the screenwriters. Sometimes the decision was necessary in order to create tension in the film (which is understandable) but that doesn't mean you can't not die in a freak gasoline fight accident.

But let's have some fun with it anyway

I'll give a few examples: One of which I mentioned in the past week.

In this scene, the only known superhero on the planet, Hancock, elects to go to prison for his crimes even though there is no way that the government could force him to do so. Upon arriving in genpop, he is approached by some thuggish individuals who decide that it is a good idea to try to intimidate a person that can fly and is capable of stopping a train with his body. Obviously this does not end well for said inmates. Basically - it wouldn't happen

Towards the end of Back to the Future, Marty needs to get back to 1985 with enough time to warn "Doc" that the Libyan terrorists are going to shoot him in the mall parking lot. Despite having a TIME MACHINE he determines that "10 minutes aughta do it." Thereby not really leaving enough time to get there in time to warn him. I realize that this was necessary in order to create tension, but that doesn't make it not dumb.

Anyway, this aught to be a pretty easy contest but here are the rules.

  • Only one submission per person

  • a picture isn't required but it will certainly increase your chances in case I am not familiar with the film

  • I choose the winners based solely upon my own opinion - because it is the only opinion I have access to inside of my head

  • All the liquid rewards from the post will be awarded to the top 3 places. in a 60/30/10 % split. Rewards will be paid out in STEEM because at the moment STEEM and SBD are worth essentially the same thing.

  • I will upvote all meaningful comments to a high level even if I don't consider it a winner... everyone

    everyone2.jpg

I think this could be a lot of fun for anyone that wants to get involved, plus it does give a chance to get some free stuff and spread the wealth a bit. If the overall consensus is that this is too patronizing, I will call off the contest.

Here is a really thirsty Zombie drinking water in season 1 of the walking dead. Funny thing is that it was quite visible so anyone who observed would've caught it.

Even if it was a goof and not on purpose (am assuming), this serves as an all time dumb move for me.

How am I supposed to take an undead zombie without serious if he needs to drink a little freshly bottled water like a gentleman?

i agree with you. It was likely an extra that was about 2 degrees from hospitalization.

How am I supposed to take an undead zombie without serious if he needs to drink a little freshly bottled water like a gentleman?

lmao this is funny

The mask scenes in "Hold The Dark". Every time they're used it feeds the mystery... and then leads to a nonsensical plot twist, that never goes anywhere.

i'll look into this. i am not familiar with it at all.

New Saulnier's movie produced by Netflix

Pulp fiction is a really great movie but when I watch it I always find it very frustrating that Butch chose to go back to his house to take his watch.

Of course the watch has a story but that's still a stupid decision. He has just won a lot of money by fucking Marcellus and managed to escape but choose to go back to his motel knowing that Marcellus and his men will be waiting for him there.

In Starship Troopers, the military equips the infantry with these guns that are nearly useless against the bugs.

Couldnt they figure out a better weapon to give the soldiers, rather than sending these high school kids onto the battlefield with guns that require 75 shots to take down a single bug?

Gonna have to go with "A Quite Place" since I literally just showed it to some friends tonight. I'll preface by saying I really like the movie overall but I couldn't get over one major lapse of logic on behalf of the entire family that would solve the majority of their surivival concerns: just live close to that damn waterfall.

The Father and Son go here to talk and yell and scream because its safe, because the waterfall is way louder than any sound they could make and the monsters would never hear them there. Why not move the whole family there? Sure they need a farm for food and its nice to have a house in a big field, but they're barely able to use the house normally to begin with, spending most of their time in the barn and basement. And ok, maybe the family really really doesn't want to live in the woods forever, but at the very least set up temporary camp by the waterfall when you know your wife is in her final months of pregnancy so she can scream her way through it safely.

Which would help avoid situations like this altogether:

i never thought of that. This movie was full of situations that could have been improved and also things not addressed such as buggy-boos would frantically attack everything during a thunderstorm.

I don't know if this will count, but in z-nations a series I saw I know they are really trying to take the zombie apocalypse thing to another level I mean after the big success of series like walking dead. In so many particular episodes the writer tries to portray that the zombie virus can only be cured by one man who was originally a prisoner and he was injected with a live zombie virus just after the outbreak, and suddenly the zombies viruse in him accidentally became a cure inside of him and the same injections turned people into zombies and his blood became a vaccine from the same virus he was given which still turned people into zombies, I mean with not even a single reason as to why it happened, it's ironic, I guess it was because they wanted it to be thrilling and as much as people loved it, it's dumb.

It is interesting to bring out a creative contest. All the appreciation to you. and yes There are many dumbest films ever. but I would like to elect 'IT' movie. It wasn't scariest film as was expected to be.

Okay, I was the one to drag my friends for the first day first show, but the movie was not lit. the dumbest part was the clown's dance. which turned out to be funny too

I hope you will enjoy this little clip as much as i did. which i found on you tube. and the end kissing part, it was unnecessary. and didn't matched the level of awesomeness the novel by Stephan king had.

I will have to go with Alien 1979. In this Ridley Scott’s scifi thriller/ horror, Ripley’s character is known for her composure and professionalism in the worst times of terror.

But her decision to go back and retreive the cat when the creature is on a rampage and evacuation countdown is threatening to blow the ship is dumb and hard to digest.
May be they wanted the audience to feel that she is a woman after all.

Sharknado 6, just because how ridiculous is it that there are 6 of these films.... how? Why?! Haha... the first one was ridiculous enough for anyone but they’re churning these out like saw movies. However, I do like all of the saw movies, I can’t say the same about sharknado 😂 the first one made me laugh though!

Just having sharks flying about in tornados can’t really be any more ridiculous
