Why Australian pirates look different

in #piratesunday7 years ago (edited)

We all know one or more Australians and damn they can drink and sing and get drunk but I have never heard about Australian pirates. Meditteranean, Somali waters, Caribean and the famous street of Mallaka and the Philipppines and China but never Australia. Why is that?

They started late

Well to start with the continent named after " terra australis incognita"or unknown Southern land started as New Holland and a first British punishment colony was established only in 1788 named New South Wales. The Aboriginals that lived there already for 60000 years were not a sea fairing people at least not that we know of. So the real piracy centuries were already over when Australia first comes into the picture.

Gold rush

Even more important, those early Australians with hunger for loot and gold did not have to go sailing as they had there own little goldrush in Australia soon after getting there. In 1850 the goldrush started quickly increasing the population. So they became a kind of land pirates.

Here you see a modern descendant of those early Ozzie land pirates often called "a brightie" if I am correct.

Yes much of our modern gold comes from this Unknown Southern Land.

They produce 9% of the total global gold number, have 17% of the world resources and can continu to mine like this for another 34 years. When travelling Australia outback you will arrive at nice towns like this one - Broken Hill - that breath mining:

So there are Ozzie pirates they just look a little different! and have no ship but big real big lorries

see you later mate

Lol! This is hilarious! That is what we call a land ship there... Just like from star wars!

faaaaaarkin hyooooooooge maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate XD

Great article, and well written. Informative, too! I enjoyed reading it, my friend!

Silver is heavily mined around the world with the largest deposits being mined in China, Australia, Peru, Poland, Serbia, Bolivia, Mexico and Chile.
... and much of the better quality coins come from the 2 Australian Mints.

Those haulpaks are pretty intimidating, guess they are a bit like land ships XD

I used to watch a show about gold hunters in Australia!!!! It was SUPER cool (but I don't have tv anymore hahaha. Nope not Netflix either lol)
