MINDS Going Crypto is Good for Steemit

New Blog from the CEO at Minds informs us that they will be adding a crypto-token to their platform. This is excellent news, actually, for everyone in this space, especially Steemit.

Minds is competition to Steemit now and competition is excellent. Moreover, more commentators like myself will now be encouraged to use the platform for content distribution and build and audience through cross-posting. Their points system now is stupid.

First there was Steemit. Then Medium added tipping through their pay wall, now Minds is adding a cryptocurrency to their platform. Gab is on the way to doing the same thing, though, at this point I can't for the life of me figure out what Andrew Torba is actually doing over there.

The Silicon Dagger

This is so very necessary now that the leaders in Silicon Valley have come out as full on STASI agents for the political status quo. And their influence and attempts to silence alternative voices will only get worse in 2018, especially in the run-up to the various important elections on the horizon.

Google, Facebook and Twitter need to hemorrhage users in 2018. And we need to get paid to continue our criticism of them and the direction of global politics, which is decidedly totalitarian.

Platforms like Steemit, Minds and Gab are essential to the counter-revolution in political speech. So, the more platforms in this space that go the incentive route for content creators, the more the idea becomes legitimized. Once legitimized the tipping economy will become an expectation of users simply because the economic incentives are properly aligned.

@Ned and the rest of the Steemit team talk about this all the time and it's so very important.

But, these moves are baby steps towards a censorship-free world. There's no indication of Minds running on a public, decentralized blockchain versus their private one. But, that's fine. Cryptos are easy to move around.

Net Neutrality Stalking Horse

Moreover, as I pointed out in a previous post about the end of Net Neutrality the corporate welfare for the Silicon Valley giants was just cut. Moreover, it also cut the Government's statutory ability to take down whatever site or person they deemed unacceptable.

Net Neutrality was designed to fill in the statutory gaps which would allow the Executive Branch to use the FCC to legally revoke the Broadcasting License of an ISP if they didn't take down an offending website.
