Fire

For many centuries man has voluntarily illuminated the interior spaces in which he lives. In prehistory, it used sunlight to light up during the day and it was when the fire was discovered that it could be used to light the interior of its caverns.

The passage of time led them to discover different materials that served them as fuel to conserve the flame. Thus the first oil lamp was born, about 50,000 years ago. It is curious to see how some excavations have shown that empty skulls were used as a lamp-like support.

The tizones appeared in Crete, but it was not until the 14th century BC. that the first candle was invented, in Egypt. Great invention that we continue to take advantage of today, even in many of our traditions. Centuries later, the teas would be reserved for religious ceremonies.

In the Middle Ages some lanterns were already used and the lighting of the enclosures, especially exterior ones, was made with large wrought iron chandeliers.

Coal gas and other types appeared as fuel around 1799. And kerosene, another major player, was obtained from oil distillation in 1859.
