Welcome to our blog! Today we’re here with a question concerning using cane on children, many opinions has been raised concerning the issue of using cane on children both at home and at schools.

For Christians who follows the guidelines of the scriptures, we know that the scriptures doesn’t condemn using of cane on people when necessary, even our master used cane on adults to correct their misbehavior. We’ve heard about absolute love; using words of advice and love alone to bring up a child.

In Africa for instance, using cane on children that misbehave isn’t a taboo or illegal, children are taught of obedience and submission to the instructions from parents, guardians, and authorities, yet there’re so many people who oppose the notion of using can on children and believe that cane should not be used on children for any reason.

If we consider the scriptures, it points us to a particular issue why cane is important in raising children, the scriptures made mention of folly or foolishness that is bound up the heart of children, meaning that it’s natural for children to misbehave considering their maturity state, now maturity covers mental stability; a situation where children can determine by themselves what is right and pleasing to do. Using cane isn’t bad if it’s serving the purpose; that purpose is that it helps the children to be conscious right things to do and of the pain that may follow their ill actions, according to the scriptures, using cane on children when it calls for helps to drive childishness and foolishness away and cultivate maturity of their minds.

I believe that more emphasis should be on the adults who utilize cane at home and schools, children are too sensitive to their environment and attitude coming to them from others especially adults, people like us that are dealing with children will tell you that children are the most lovely group of people to deal with, they are the embodiment of love, forgiveness, unity, compassion etc, and they deserve every love and care from us.

Now the adults using cane must understand that cane is meant for correction yes; but such corrections should be carried out in love and in kindness, abuse is a sin even before heaven and God, children are vulnerable, meaning that any abuse or ill treatment to them is totally unacceptable!
