Having Trouble Posting Today? This Might Be Why
If You're Reading This...
It's not because I'm dead. This isn't that kind of message. It is however proof that things are at least sporadically back to normal, since just a short while ago, I was having trouble posting a comment, let alone publishing a post.
Not sure how many other people are having problems posting, but this advisory popped up after the second or third try of publishing said comment. I don't remember ever seeing it before, even in my first few days on Steemit when bandwidth was a problem.
Thanks, Steemit. And, just out of curiosity, how much more SP do I need to buy to avoid this trouble, especially when it's most likely one of you guys monkeying under the hood? At least, I hope that's what's going on. I'd know if I got a message about it, instead of this one, telling me how intelligently you're allocating my bandwidth to me.
How about a warning more like this:
Attention Dude!
Like, Steemit is kind of like, you know, not working right now, because we're monkeying under, like the hood and stuff. It's not your fault. You did nothing wrong, so no worries, bro. We hope to be finished shortly. Have a good day!
As for waiting until my bandwidth recharges:
Sorry, but waiting over four days for that to happen doesn't cut it for me.
[One minute later, literally.]
Aha! Not only is Steemit monkeying with my bandwidth, but I have proof they're also messing with my life's time allocation, too! (Can they really do that?!) Over four days worth of it, gone in a mere minute! I want those four days back, people! They go fast enough without you all monkeying around with them, thank you.
[Another minute.]
And, bandwidth is back.
I still want my four days.

steemit is garbage since I joined it over 11 months ago.
ned and sneak can not get a decent job so they hold on to their positions here, which I want to know how they got.
There are alternative interfaces for use of the STEEM blockchain other than Steemit. however they tax their users by charging a fee out of their author's rewards, and far more costlier for bidbot users like myself.
They also have the ability to use their users' accounts to vote against their will.
If you like being taxed, use those other interfaces.
I just caught up to a post from last night about this very thing talking about what happened earlier in the day yesterday and that it was due to some kind of spam attack that corrupted nodes.
It would be nice to know about things like that. The PR department could definitely be better about this sort of thing, since for all intents and purposes, it's virtually non-existent.
It's a startup. We all need to remember that Steem is in beta!
This beta startup is already 2 years old.
And there is quite a lot of former collective experience from social networks like Facebook, Twitter, Google Plus.
Problems here are too frequent and perpetual to be excused for self proclaiming itself as a beta.
You joined here before I did, but how often do you use it?
Daily since I increased my investment in the platform.
There's a lot more to this blockchain than a bad UI/UX social media site. Consider that you can instantly send Steem anywhere. Consider the 300+ developer projects that interact with this blockchain (steemprojects.com), including SteemPress, Dtube, and others.
Lots of exciting stuff happening here. If it's not your thing, that's fine too. But we're way too early to think it is dead.

I didn't know there was anyone with social media experience. I'm glad to know that. How long have they been here, though? Are they the ones working on the Communities UI?
It is not what I meant.
I meant that code libraries and knowledge exist, not that there are experienced people working in STINC.
Sadly, steemit uses fecebook libraries, which explain for instance, why browsing here feels like hell.
Steemit also uses AWS, which is Amazon Web Services, which lead to at least 1 downtime.
It is also connected to Google.
And did you see what sneak, its technical manager thinks?

It is a startup, and they don't always have predictable timetables. I'd just like to have someway of knowing what's going on. Something that instills confidence that I won't wake up one morning and find my wallet emptying because someone hacked into all of them.

Steem Cleaners was nice enough to see the problem and even the account that did it but I did not put t in my post lest I give someone else an idea to do a spam attack.
I appreciate you mentioning what it was. As I said, I wish I'd seen yours before I wrote this. What happened yesterday and what I experienced today could well be related. But the system has been buggy off and on for a few weeks now, and so I'm hoping it's not because of ongoing attacks. That would not be good.
If you're having bandwidth issues with your 1500SP, most of us are in trouble. Then again, most of us don't post as much as you. ;) Ha ha.
Apparently, it could be a spam attack that started last night and corrupted some nodes.
But yeah. That's why I asked the Steemit bandwidth sign how much more I needed. I checked a few other accounts that are bigger than mine and they were in similar condition. Some which had less were already recovering their bandwidth, so there wasn't much rhyme or reason to the recovery.
This must be getting a little old I would think. Constantly fighting off attacks. Can't be good for business. But I can't believe there aren't solutions for it, either that would be relatively easy to deploy.
I mean, there's always Norton, right? McAfee. Joe's Anti-Spam Spray. Something. :)
That's no good. I did not know nodes knew new knots of corruption. Glad that things got sorted out. It seems like it would be a lot of work to fun a witness node, especially if you aren't top 19. The rewards are intermittent, but the hassle is constant. I wonder if there would be more reason to have the delegation be equal. Who knows?
I can't recommend Norton. I wrote that article a while back on my experience with them. Joe's might be a good solution. If not that, Bubba probably has one we could get on the cheap. ;)
I've wondered about that too. I would think at some point if not from the outset 20 would be considered the barebones minimum. The more nodes, the better. Obviously, there's not a bunch of delegation to just hurl at anyone who wants to be a witness, but the top 50, for the most part, seem to be pretty involved in some way. And it would probably create greater competition for those spots if 21-50 paid better.
I knew you wouldn't endorse Norton. Bubba probably needs to bring his prices up, just out of principle. :)
A little customer service wouldn't go amiss, do they not know what Twitter is?
