Color Challenge - Monday Red - Art In Progress

Red Now But For How Long? 😁

In response to @colorchallenge's post of ideas of things to photograph other than flowers, I decided to post this piece of unfinished art and it's story.

I've posted a few of my finished inspirational minis before but never something unfinished. This acrylic on board has had a very roundabout life already and, although far from finished, this is it's latest iteration.

Basically I didn't like all that had gone before so I gessoed over it and then, last Friday, I got it into my head to use up an old tube of red paint so I added that to this painting and here we are.

It actually started life as a commission for my brother and sister-in-law who wanted a yellow painting. I tried to persuade them to let me add another colour but they wouldn't have it. So, against my better judgement I gave it a go and ended up with this.

Yellow small.jpg

I honestly can't say if I was serious about this or whether it was a bit of a protest statement. That knitting you see on there is a cut up water bottle cover that my Nanny knitted that I'd had since I was a kid but which was long past it's best. I thought it might add a family type angle.

Come the unveiling bro and sis weren't very keen and didn't want it, so that was that.

From them on it became a bit of a dumping ground for bits of paint and papers I needed to find a home for.

Sadly, I don't have a picture of it when it was at it's most chaotic but you can get a feel of it if you look closely. Those three small circles, for example, are from when I was draining a pot of blue paint and wanted to get the very last bit out. 😁

Where will it go from here? Your guess is as good as mine! 😁 😁 😁

Thanks to @kalemandra for the daily color challenge.

Very interesting artwork. So in the yellow painting the strings are like flower stems?

Oh yes. I see what you mean. I think I must have had that in mind originally. They were removed at some point though. Thanks for stopping by! 😊

oh great artwork

Glad you like it @sajidulislam. 😊

I'm a bit lost here, the second one seems to be a second "iteration"(🤣) from the first one but upside down?
The first in red you say it's unfinished, desagee 😌
The second one being aisled from it's origin is awesome and I think should have accomplished the request.

So we have now, the second one?, was the first one killed definetely?, a crime floating around(👮)...
Maybe I'm totally lost and didn't understand a word.

Yep. You're totally lost @drakernoise. 😁

The yellow one was the original. Then I ripped off the knitting and started adding left over paint, paper and other stuff to it. I don't have a picture of it at that point.

Then I gessoed over it and while it was still wet I added the red paint!

Hope that makes it clearer. I love how you always think my painting's are finished. I just don't know when to stop!

Haha guessed it!. So now I can breath with relief , no crime 😁
Thank you for explaining me again Gillian, sometimes I'm quite clumsy.

Wow! That's great! I like the texture and I like the texture of the work. A good choice for#colorchallenge

Thanks @madlenfox. It was fun to do something a bit different. 😊

This is beautiful!

You deserve an extra upvote and resteem from @kalemandra!

Thank you so much @klemandra. It's very much apprecited. Nothing like a bit of positive reinforcement. You've got me wondering what else I can post instead of flowers now! 😁

Thank you. I have no idea where to go next with it! 😁

Great use of patterns and color :)

Only a pleasure
