Julia went to bed feeling exhausted. It seemed as if everyone enjoyed themselves except her. She felt distracted half of the night and she definitely drank too much. She struggled to fall asleep and rolled around. When she did fall asleep she had nightmares so at four in the morning she gave up on sleeping altogether.

She went to the kitchen and made coffee. She looked at her dining room and there were heaps of dishes standing around. She started gathering all the dirty glasses to pack in the dishwasher. It would have been nice to have someone to help her, she thought to herself. Her thoughts went straight back to Derrick.  He made such an impact on her and then he turned out to be the biggest liar. She wished that things could have been different.  She had no clue where he originally came from and even if Derrick was his real name.

Things had been so hectic with the house renovations and at work, she didn't have any time to do research about his case. All that she knew was that there was something hidden in her house, and he was desperate to find it. After packing in all the dishes and tidying up a bit she made herself some coffee and fetched her laptop.  She typed in his name and surname and found a newspaper article about him.

Litton-town lawyer accused of murder

A big-time lawyer Mr. Derrick Malone from Litton was accused of killing his long time business partner Mr Donald McIntyre.  Mr. McIntyre was found dead in his apartment after the two of them appeared to be in some kind of struggle. Mr Derrick Malone was found on the scene with the murder weapon in his hand. He is being held in the South-Port penitentiary awaiting his trial.  Mr Malone claims that he is innocent but so far could not prove his innocence due to a lack of evidence. Mr. Malone is the only suspect in this murder case.

Julia was now more sure than ever that there was something hidden in her house. She had no idea what to look for, but she knew that she had to go and see Derrick. There was no doubt in her mind that if his partner were killed, then Derrick was not the killer. He was so soft hearted and why would he not have tried to do anything to her while he was here. He was definitely looking for something.

Julia checked the time.  It was nearly seven o clock. If she took a quick shower then she could be in South-Port within two hours.  She had to see Derrick and help him out in any way she could.

She arrived there just after nine. There was a mountain of paperwork to fill in before she was finally allowed to see Derrick. She sat waiting in a small room and it felt like hours before they brought him in.

He looked miserable and very discouraged but when he saw Julia his face lit up and he looked very grateful to see her.

"You need to tell me everything Derrick. I know you're hiding evidence in my house, and I need to know everything in detail if you want my help."

Derrick started talking and she couldn't believe what he told her.
