Today's experience with a drug abuser

I was in my house this evening when I heard some funny sounds outside, it was raining so it was strange to hear such a voice at the time, I stepped out and I saw a young lady lying down in front of my gate screaming for water and behaving abnormally, myself and other neighbors who heard the same sound came out to give her water, with the way she was acting, I was forced to ask her if she had taken any serious drug and she admitted to taking just a little. She actually had an overdose of a particular hard drug that was telling on her at the time. We rushed to give her water upon request, and she kept on rolling and screaming, muttering words that were beyond normal.

I suggested we rushed her to the hospital, but some young guys who knew about situations like this advised against it, thankfully, someone knew her house so we were able to take her there, when we got there, we found out no one was in the house, she told us her friend had traveled and she stays with her friends, I demanded that we call her family members to alert them of the situation but she kept on screaming at the top of their voice, my Mum must not know I smoke please, my sister must not know too, please don't tell them. Confused about the next step to take, I concluded that we had to take her to the hospital, it was unsafe for us to just keep her with us expecting she will be fine.

I quickly called a taxi and I took her to the hospital after calling the number of her friend I saw on her phone, I promised to check on her tomorrow after helping out with the little money I had on me, it was a long night which opened up my eyes to a large number of young minds wasting away under the influence of hard drugs. I mean, this is a very young mind whose parents sent her to school to gain knowledge and all she is doing is wasting away under the influence of hard drugs, one of her neighbors I saw later on told me she is a chronic drug addict alongside her friend. It may be none of my business, but I could not help but think about what the future of this pretty girl is going to look like, and most of all, what she will pass down to her children in terms of culture.
