the Amazing Fibonacci spiral!!!
I was recently reminded of it when we were tending to a client's vegie garden where we had planted some, as it turned out, gorgeous sunflowers. Of course I didn't have my phone on me to take a pic. But today as i was wandering around The Home Depot that was just packed with very tempting colors of echinacea (coneflower), I was like
"aha! The Echinacea has a pretty obvious spiral!"
So that is the shot above.
So, what is the Fibonacci spiral aka the golden ratio?
(BORING math-y answer from some tech site)
"The Fibonacci sequence is a set of numbers that starts with a one or a zero, followed by a one, and proceeds based on the rule that each number (called a Fibonacci number) is equal to the sum of the preceding two numbers."
(@gardenlady's answer)
THE coolest spiral found in practically all plants like flower florets, pinecones, pineapples, ferns..not to mention ocean waves, sea shells, hurricanes, spiral galaxies, DNA molecules and more.
I'll just add this Tedtalk link here on Fibonnacci - it's actually cool to see how the numbers work - take a look if you have a few minutes
So, still poking around Home Depot being so bold with my iphone's macro camera, I started clicking away at all the echinacea and corepsis floret flowers and buds in their different states of development
Echinacea (pinky orange)
Echinacea (yellow-y) (actually, this doesn't look like echinacea...i can't remember what this was - some sort of yellow flower - sorry for being so lame here!)
Coreopsis
And then from my own yard...
Succulent from one of my containers (harder to detect, but it is there)
a pinecone from a White Pine
I recommend taking some time and searching fibonacci spirals...it is really incredible. We are all connected.
happy gardening everyone, and as usual, if you have a gardening question, just ask, and I will try to help!

Thank you for posting @gardenlady.
Lovely photographs and commentary.
Steemians are mesmerised by the fabonacci spirals in crypto trading....perhaps this connection will take them in a new direction.... ^_^
All the best to you. Cheers.
You're welcome @bleujay. I did not know that there could be a crypto-fib connection...very cool
Thank you for your reply @gardenlady.
@edje wrote a lovely post about Fibonacci trading.
