The glittering rays of the afternoon sun beat against Opa's hat as he paddled slowly on the face of the glassy Niger river. He was at the verge of losing hope, having toiled all day without catching anything.

Opa looked up quite frustrated and wondered what he and his family would have for dinner. Also, he wondered where all the fishes in the Niger river had gone - perhaps they had gone for a picnic, he thought.

Well, instead of returning home empty-handed, Opa decided to take the risk of casting his hook for the last time. He adjusted his hat and waited for his luck to wake up from its slumber.

Just then, Opa felt a yank and pulled his line. He could feel the unusual weight - it must be a massive fish, he thought. Opa kept pulling and pulling while the mysterious creature fought back violently. As it drew nearer, Opa eyes brightened gleefully. At last, he would have a fine dinner with his family.

However, as Opa finally settled to give the creature a final pull, the beast swiftly lifted its huge head and gave Opa a powerful bite. It was a crocodile - the beast, which ended in Opa's pot of soup that evening, left him with incomplete fingers.
