I, Bot - Laws and Rules
Well, I bet everyone knows the book Isaac Asimov written: "I, Robot". In the book, a robot has to obey the following rules:
- A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
- A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
- A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
Bot Laws and Rules
Inspired by the book, I want to create a STEEM bot which obeys these basic laws:
- The bot may not write or comment in anyway that could hurt another human being
- The bot must obey the orders of the creator
- The bot must protect itself unless in conflict with the First or Second law.
Aside from the basic laws above, the STEEM bot must follow a set of rules to be truly a bot that works for the betterment of the human society without any ulterior motive. The rules are as follows:
- The wallet of the bot may never be withdrawn. It's money will always be moved to STEEM power. Money in Steem power cannot be withdrawn and will need 3 months to power down.
- The bot will serve for the good of human society.
- The bot will not join or participate in any contests for humans.
Roadmap
I have not yet built the bot above. But I think it is just right for me to lay down the laws and rules by which the bot will operate. I will start with creating a welcome function for the bot. I think this is the best place to start with in helping the steem community. This is the roadmap I have in mind for the bot:
- Welcome post to new steemians.
- A curation bot that will have some "artificial intelligence".
- Resteem articles that are noteworthy
- Suite of commands that others can interact with the bot
- The bot can be powered by a blockchain and distribute coins?
What do you think of the above? If you have suggestions on what additional laws or rules that the bot must follow ; or, a function that the bot must have, let me know :)
Like number 3 but wonder what sort of criteria would be used. One of the interesting effect of social media is the culture of numbers. By that I mean: something is deemed great only because it has a lot of votes and likes. It might be an awful article, a call to murder or a general appeal to hatred and still been deemed the best post in days by a robot if there are enough votes and likes. It is time to stop this culture of numbers and start thinking about the real value of content.
1st rule is Golden. This signifies that no other intent was made for monetary gain.

I'll all for it. Esp. since it could find interesting content from relativly unknown authors ie. minnows.
Cool! Would you want to build a beautifier bot for Steemit?
what is a beautifier bot?
The idea is to, say, a bot check post like cheetah does but suggest proper formatting. Spell check, grammar check. So that newcomers can receive suggestions or their posts are upvoted according to their 'beauty'.
