Heavy silver koala's and a silver dragon

in #silver5 years ago

As most of you know I'm a pirate...Not one of those ones who prey on shipping on the seven seas, just one who collects treasure. OK, so maybe I'm not a pirate, but if I could be one I think it would be a pretty cool thing. Alas, I can only aspire to it.

Some of you may recall I have a silver group at my office. It started when a few of the team found out I buy precious metals and they all jumped on board which was cool. We all do it for different reasons and some have a lot more than other's however we have fun talking about it and on those occasions when we actually make our purchases, which we did last week.

I decided to do something a little different this time and purchase two-ounce coins which I have not purchased previously. Below you'll see some images of what arrived. I managed, through loads of saving my pennies, to buy six of these so a total of 12 ounces of silver.

Rear of the coin showing the head of Queen Elizabeth II, the year and weight.

Here I've taken a shot to show you the difference between a one ounce coin and the two ounce ones, on the left. As you can see the two ounce coin is thicker.

I'm not sure how much silver my silver group has purchased collectively since it started but I'd say a fair amount. The cool thing is that everyone isn't just pulling money out of their bank accounts or housekeeping money, they're saving it! We are all going without things to have the ability to purchase some silver. I think that's what makes this so cool, people actively working towards something they see as more valuable than a second coffee purchased each day, or that mid-afternoon snack at their desk.

P.s. I just want to give a shoutout to a fellow Steemit-user. I was fortunate enough to be the lucky winner of an ounce of silver that the most excellent @balticbadger was giving away in a raffle. Below you can see the front and back of the silver ounce I won. I haven't got one of these so I'm pretty happy to have been the lucky winner. @balticbadger actually raffled off a few items so there were some other winers as well which is cool. Right now my dragon silver is probably at 40,000 feet somewhere in the belly of an aircraft but it'll be here soon...Thanks to the good sir BalticB!

Man that extra ounce sure makes a difference doesn’t it? I got my first one last month a falcon from the queens beast and it it awesome! I think it just feels more “precious” with the added ounce. Those koalas look really nice! Hope to stack some of those in the future! Can’t wait till you get your dragon! Thanks so much for the mention @galenkp!

I really like the thickness of the 2 ounce coins. Great looking score!

Yeah, they feel chunky. There is a 1kg coin also...I'm saving for that now. Going to be epic!

Hey, @galenkp.

Showing off the silver rounds. Very nice. I think it's cool that the coins are thick enough to stand on end, no problem.

That's quite the fancy dragon, too. It reminds me of dragons typically associated with the Chinese. Or, maybe there's some other reason behind the particular design. Doesn't matter. It still looks great.

And of course, Elizabeth II. :)

Yeah, I'm pretty happy with the 2 ounce coins...I'll get more someday...When I can afford them. 😆
