Catching time...A fools errand
As most people know all good things come to an end eventually. I’m facing the end of something right now…It’s not quite finished just yet although I’m lamenting its demise nonetheless. Yep, it’s Sunday night and the weekend is almost over. Bummer!
This weekend we had the rare treat of catching up with my little sister who lives interstate. She gets over here a couple of times a year and the last time I saw her was just before Christmas. Today we also had the chance to meet her fiancé for the first time who seems like a pretty decent dude. We went for breakfast to the Magill Estate Kitchen which is an awesome spot located at the Penfolds Winery complex. If you’re interested you can check it out here. It was great to catch up and hear about their wedding plans, which are pretty-well non-existent at the moment other than them thinking it ”might occur in May 2019”. Of course we chatted about all sorts of things, the family in general and our recent trip to the UK and Finland. It was a nice breakfast that ended up lasting until about 2pm in the afternoon! My family has a WhatsApp group which allows us to throw up random photos and thoughts for all to share and until I met my sisters partner he was not authorised. After today I, as the Grand Poobah of the WhatsAPP group, have approved his entry to the group. I’m not sure if that means very much but I guess it indicates acceptance. He has embraced his new status and has been posting all afternoon. He seems like a pretty decent chap and I’m glad my sister is happy. The image is of my sister and I.
The rest of Sunday was spent here at home working through some of my vacation photographs which was a lot of fun and also reviewing all the phone videos I have of my little niece in Finland, @smallsteps. Once I got onto the videos I didn’t get far with the photos. She’s just so cute and we miss her very much. The photos make me laugh and feel sad at the same time because I miss that little girl like crazy!.
It’s been a cold day here in Adelaide (by Adelaide standards) and so now we’re on the couch, snuggled in, and ready to watch the Formula One Grand Prix on the idiot box in an hour or two.
Time is one of the most valuable of commodities in life, or so I believe, and it's impossible to catch. It can’t be gathered, collected and stored away though like stacking silver; It passes away no matter what we do and so Faith and I work really hard to find value in each day we spend. Each morning I consider the day ahead and remind myself that I have paid for it with one day of my life. It helps me to keep focused on gaining the best from it. At the end of the day I measure and weigh up my day and determine if it was well spent. In this way I can evaluate each day and plan ahead for the next. It seems to work for me to gain the best from each day and we all know that a great year is simply 365 ten out of ten days in a row right?
We can't catch time, it will keep moving forward despite our best efforts to slow it down or even reverse it. I hope ya’ll had a great weekend no matter where you are in the world and that you can look back on your weekend with satisfaction knowing you got the best out of it and the time spent which will never be recovered.

The older I get the more I love weddings. There's something so genuine and authentic and civilised about the whole thing. Big congratulations to your sister and her fiance. March 2019 isn't far away.
We managed to plan ours in 6 months, but it wasn't easy.
They seem very happy together. I think they're going to do something quite intimate and personal rather than a big Andrew Lloyd Webber stage production which I think is good. We'll see I guess.
Am really happy for your sister. I spent the weekend attending the wedding of an old friend (crush) from way back. It was nice and brought up a lot of memories
I probably don't value time as much as I should. Time really is the most important commodity we possess
Thanks for your comment. Yes, time is a precious thing and yet one of the most frivolously spent things we have available to us...
