Let's increase Steem's online presence

What makes a valuable product? And how do we make people to like it & use it?

I've been pondering on these questions, with the goal of bringing Steem to more people around my local community.

For what reason? Because I believe that steem is truly a valuable thing and it has the capacity to improve the lives of people and change the course of the future. I know it's a huge undertaking and it's a really difficult task to execute however, with the latest development of steem related apps, I can see that the possibility is getting clearer.

Without a doubt, we as a Steemian who decided to stay and keep the ball rolling, are special in our own right. We are at the front of a world changing technology and are given the privilege to be part of it. And we as an individual or a community can do our part to make it happen.

 

To make it happen does not necessarily mean that you should have a skill in coding. It doesn't also mean that you have to invest a substantial amount of your wealth to it. So what can you do to help without a knowledge in programming or a money to invest to?

It is your time & participation to the development of the network.

The developers are already working hard in bringing tools to make the use case of Steem broader and getting ready for mass adoption. But as they put their time and energy in developing such tools, they obviously lack the time to market and introduce the tools to each and every individual out there.

This is the part that we as a Steemian could take part of. I've read in many steemit blogs how Steem makes a difference among its competitors despite it's current price.

It's obviously the community that makes Steem stand-out among its competitors. We have the most active and passionate communities.

 

Out of curiosity, I've signed-up to other blockchains that offer a similar product as to what steem have. I must say that we clearly surpass them when it comes to how passionate we are with our blockchain. We have more interesting dapps that are aiming to add value to the chain. With the addition of Drug wars to the list of Steem dapps, we clearly dominated the space of dapps as shown in the State of Dapps site.

Since we already know our strength, how do we make use of it to attract more users to the network?

In the past, we rely on the "word of mouth campaigns", an action that is effectively done by high-stake holders since they are the ones who can clearly provide a good amount of rewards to their invited users. During that time, the reward is substantial enough to keep the motivation going.

 

Since the bear market has greatly affected the post payout and the value of steem token on exchanges, it's obviously not a good selling point for steem.

And so, I do think that it's best to change the approach from monetary value to the value of appreciation. What I mean exactly is that we should introduce steem as a tool that has the ability to make someone's way of living relevant to the blockchain.

Let me cite some examples:

When I'm in a restaurant having a nice meal, I think of Tasteem where I can share my experience of my dining and earn some steem tokens as a bonus.

When I travel to other places, I can think of Trips.teem as a way to share my experience to a new place and share it to people who might want to travel in the near future. And again, I will earn some tokens as a bonus reward.

When I want to share my daily life events, I can use Partiko to share it with friends and interact with them. Again, my engagement through the app will gain me points where I can then convert to upvote rewards.

There so much possibility when it comes to the way we introduce our Steem blockchain to others without getting technical about the technology that we are in. Let's face it, blockchain and cryptocurrencies are the kind of words that we can't really expect for a person to easily digest and absorb.

Let's introduce Steem in such a way that is related to a person's lifestyle and personality.

Just like me, I'm clueless about blockchain & crypto when I joined the Steem network. Sharing my content was my first introduction to this technology. I just wish that these dapps were present during that time however, it isn't late to re-introduce steem to the old users and also to the incoming new users. We have improved a lot and it's just the beginning.

Let's be optimistic and confident about steem and show them how great it is.
