Time for family
As parents, we can always be busy with our work and often tell our children that we are too busy to spend time with them.
I am guilty of this and I am sure many of us are guilty too.
We have many priorities but spending time with our children or elderly parents may not be one of them.
I know it is Christmas and we may have spent quality time with our family on this day.
Do you think the spending of quality time with your family for only one day out of the whole year is enough?
Below is videoclip of how a workaholic mother remembered her childhood when her father spent time with her. She learnt the importance of spending time with her family.

Time is money
As working parents, we are often more concerned with whether our family is sufficiently provided for their physical needs but we may neglect their emotional needs due to heavy commitment in work.
The amount of time we can spend with our children is often a small fragment of our time or we totally have no time for them at all.
The amount of time we can earn extra cryptocurrency by writing articles to spending time with our kids, we may just choose the first because of our own greed for money as well as the financial benefits that we can provide to our family.
We can give every child everything they want but they may not necessary remember those things but family memories that we spend together are flashbacks that can be ignited even in their adulthood.
In the video, we can see that both parents did not have time for their six-year-old child and the child grew closer to his retired grandfather when he moved over to their house.
There were lots of restrictions being placed on his grandfather due to difference in demands by the child’s mother.
At the end of the video, his mother remembered how her childhood was like when she spent time with her father leading to her positive change in family bonding.
Generation gaps
There are always generation gaps between different generations.
Our parents were treated differently from how they treated us when we were a child.
We may have treated our own children differently from how our parents treated us too.
When the need arises and our elderly parents would need to stay with us, there would be conflicts and we need to come to a compromise for a harmony relationship.
Isn’t it our duty as children to take care of our parents?
As a child, we may declare with love that we would take care of our parents when they are old.
We may often forget our declaration as life struggles and stress get into us.
Many may find their parents as burdens but it is only right for us to take good care of them.
It may take time to get used to having them in our family but there are good values that our children can also learn from our parents.
Importance of family
When a crisis strikes, we cannot be sure that our trusted friends can be with us but we may often find our strength coming from our family.
Our family would stick with us even in difficult times.
Our money can never last forever since we do not live forever but our memories of family time and bonding can be remembered by our children when we are no longer around.
Our values that we pass on to our children can become values for their own children when they become parents.
In conclusion
I was introduced to a word called 'YOLO' that is used by many youngsters. The word ‘YOLO’ means ‘You Only Live Once’.
In our short lifespan, we can accomplish many career successes but these successes are subjected to changes.
Our children need our time when they are still young and they would not need us forever.
Consider your family time and how you have spent your 2018 with your family.
With 2019 on its way in a few days, we may just want to make new resolutions that family time becomes the top priority.
