What is it?

SportyCo is a sports based crowdfunding platform build on Ehtereum. They call it a Decentralized sports investment and funding ecosystem. It provides a direct financial connection between athletes, sport clubs and organizers on one side and John Doe and investment companies on the other side.

Athletes can create profiles listing their current achievements, their goals for the future, how much money they want to raise and how the money will be spend. SportyCo will check and approve each profile before it is published on the blockchain.
This will give the holders of SPF the chance to invest a future stars.

SportyCo started under the name of SportiFy, based quickly rebranded it. Probably due to the similarities with Spotify! Try typing in sportify into google and googles assumes you are searching for spoity!

So what’s in it for the athletes?

A lot of promising athletes have a lack of funds to fully explorer and train their potentials. Via SportyCo there are 2 possible ways of Crowdfunding.
They can decide to just ask for a donation. In this case the athlete can freely use to funds donated to him/her minus the 5% fixed charge which goes to SportyCo.
They can step into an investment model. The athlete can still use the received money but based on smart contracts the athlete will be committed to share a part of their future income or other revenue stream. This is clearly stated in the smart contract. In the investment module, SportyCo charges a fee of 12%. When the athlete start paying back the investors another 5% will be reserved for SportyCo.

What’s in it for investors?

We (above 18 years) all have change to support young promising athletes in ways we never could have dreamed of.
It still will be a gamble but hey that’s everything in the cryptoworld.
But your choices come with a no money guarantee. When the player does not have the real potential, gets injured or something else happens during its career, your investement is gone!

What’s in it for SportyCo

The have fixed margins which they will take from the fundraisings. This money is used to keep the machine going on. The creation of a profile is free, so each new profile has to be approved, which at the moment requires human power.
Besides this they offer paid guidance during the crowdfunding and the athletes career.
They have really some great advisors on board, from Olympic medalist to winners of the world cup football.

In Q2 of this year they will be launching the professional fund and start investing in athletes.

Will it have a future?

It really looks like a genuine product and project and for some reason I do believe in it. I did purchase some SPFs in the past week and will probably buy some more in the upcoming period.
