Ketan Susu Kemayoran Jakarta Pusat

Kemayoran is synonymous with Betawi artists, Benjamin Sueb, and a football club, Persija Jakarta. However, for culinary lovers, Kemayoran is known as a culinary paradise with a menu of sticky rice whose kitchen has been 'steaming' for decades.

On the side of Jalan Garuda Ujung RW 08, visitors can easily see the sign on 'Ketan Susu Kemayoran'. The shopkeeper, swiftly welcomed the buyer by asking the order kindly.

Romi, who is the 4th generation said this milk stick stall was opened by his great grandfather, Taryad, 60 years ago. "From 1958," he said when met with Poskotanews.

This stall also maintains the menu since it first opened. Visitors can enjoy a plate of sticky rice with grated coconut and additional sweetened condensed milk with only IDR 5,000.

In addition to milk sticky rice, side dishes are also provided such as cassava, sweet potatoes, bananas, and tempeh which are all fried. "From the past it was like this (the menu), only additional sweetened condensed milk from 2000," Romi added.

All snacks valued at IDR 1,000 per piece and a pot of warm tea pot are priced at IDR 4,000. Very affordable price for buying legendary flavors.

One other shopkeeper, Iwan, said that his shop was open for 24 hours. "It's just a holiday off, because the problem continues," he said.

When asked by an important figure who had come to his shop, he recalled that DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had once "come by" for breakfast. "In the past, campaign time," he said.

However, Iwan did not expect his shop to be given special attention by the DKI Provincial Government. He and the other 4th generation agreed to maintain what the predecessor had built. "Just like that, it's simple," he explained briefly.

The simplicity of this shop was also approved by Bahar, a loyal buyer since he was a child. He claimed that this shop always reminded him of his childhood.

"The stalls are already (simple) from the time my father is still young," he said.
