How to Change the World
It’s time to stop dancing on the razor’s edge.
There is a silent killer we need to pay attention to: the annihilation of the human spirit.
It’s happened gradually, and we’re all victims. We’ve all become spiritually challenged: brainwashed, propagandized, polarized, commercialized, commoditized. We’ve allowed capitalism to become our ruler, instead of using it humanely to create a better world.
It’s time to change the world. If we don’t, my grandchildren and great-grandchildren are going have a very rough time on planet Earth.
It’s not that we’ve reached the tipping point in terms of global annihilation. We reached that point during the Arms Race. I’m 62, and, in grade school, around 1965 or so, I learned out to crouch under my school desk to protect myself from a nuclear bomb.
I learned about the futility of the human dilemma at a very young age, and I’m reminded of it every time I drive by a retail store or fast food joint. Every time a popup ad pops up on a web page. Every time I see a construction worker or housewife buy a lottery ticket at the convenience store.
It’s as if we could buy ourselves a little happiness in the face of economic collapse, countless wars, a corrupt political establishment, environmental damage, and the unraveling of the fabric of a moral, benevolent society.
Even though true happiness works doesn't depend on those things.
It’s not that we really need to recite all the ways in which human beings are destroying the planet and themselves. We all know we’re doomed. It’s the postmodern angst we all feel, it’s the deep root of our angst, and it’s so deep we’ve forgotten it’s there. The root reaches deep into our souls, where it’s anchored in futility. Because none of us really believe in a visceral, fully present way that the end is near.
We’ve learned to dance on the razor’s edge, and enjoy it.
The answer lies within each of us, in our spirit.
One crucial thing quantum physics has taught us is that the universe is a living consciousness, and so are we. That’s a fact we can’t escape, not while we’re alive, not when we die.
It’s time to come to grips with the fact that humans are bundles of conscious energy, conscious energy living through a biological form with which our consciousness (spirit) is part and parcel.
The way, the method, the answer to how we change the world, is walking around with you, it’s breathing, it’s heart is beating. It’s you. It’s us.
The only real answer to the world's problems, and life's problems, is a spiritual answer. Yet it seems only a few people will ever become awakened to that fact.
It’s a statistical reality: only a small percentage of people seek spiritual growth. That’s what accounts for the mess the world is in. That’s what wars are all about, our lack of love, compassion, forgiveness — our lack of spiritual sanity.
Humans think they are so frickin’ smart. But true wisdom is spiritual in nature, true wisdom is an inner knowing not an intellectual or rational process or idea. True wisdom is rooted in the spiritual self. But only a few folks can see the value in it, or experience the value of it.
The revolution can’t be capitalized.
If the people of the world would wake up to the efficacy and beauty of their spirit, as individuals and as a human family, the world’s problems could be solved in a decade or two.
But you can’t turn awareness into a business. Well, actually you can, but the market is too small. Churches do it, of course, but the mega-churches are built around celebrity pastors, and commercialized religion is just another spin on capitalism.
Deeper awareness, inner awakening, higher consciousness, spiritual rebirth — whatever you choose to call it — doesn’t need capital. Doesn’t request or require capital. It’s value is so much greater than any token of value that to put a price tag on it is just an attempt to de-value and degrade it, in a sense. “You can’t buy happiness,” don’tcha know.
We are free to destroy ourselves and our world.
Freedom, liberty, free will — the great gift to mankind to self-determine the course of life — is also the button that launches nuclear missiles. It’s our choice. Choose ignorance, choose bling, choose power and money, choose fame, choose distraction — or choose salvation, awareness, beauty, love, wholeness, joy. Your choice. Our choice.
But choice — free will — demands a decision.
It’s time to decide what we want our world to become.

I agree. I am a research scientist and I left all corporate and major universities. Spiritual and conscious growth is a must. The world and the corrupt system is heading in the wrong direction.
