Elephants On Rampage
Source
I've always wanted to see some wild animals but as there are no zoos in Ghana, that has been difficult, however there are reports that elephants have invaded Dakutu, a rural area in the Talensi District in the Upper East Region of Ghana.
The animals numbering about 90 have been destroying farmlands and trees and terrorising residents of this community. The elephants have been coming around often over the past three years and causing a lot of destruction.
Shea trees are common in the locale and as elephants eat the Shea nuts, they've been pulling down trees to feed on them. Farmers and residents alike have been terrorised and are afraid to go out in to the forests. The forestry commission has received reports of this matter but they are yet to do anything about this. We hope they decide to act soon before it gets worse.
