Jasper: Waterfall of Peace
The Bolivar state (Venezuela) is home to paradisiacal places, all with unique beauty. This time we will travel to Santa Elena de Uairen, towns near the border with Brazil, because at kilometer 273 of trunk 10 we will find the Jasper waterfall.
Kakoparú or Quebrada de Jaspe, is one of the most visited places by tourists in the Gran Sabana who come willing to fully enjoy the wonders offered by nature. It is a large semi-precious slab known as Jasper, which gives the place its name.
This rock formation is 300 meters long and consists of quartz and silica, with black and red. The most attractive thing is that the water level is not higher than 5cm, so visitors can lie down quietly and receive massages directly from the water that cascades. It is a perfect place to relax.
To make matters worse, jasper slabs are very slippery to be polished by the continuous passage of water, this allows tourists to slide through them in a space called "El Tobogan de Jaspe". Something that makes this place unique is the reflection of the sun on the stones when it is very high, making it shine like stars, a spectacle that captivates everyone who visits it.
The monument is surrounded by large trees full of flowers, sheltering thousands of birds that sometimes break the silence of the jungle. In addition to this, it has a parking lot that connects the stream through a wooded tunnel. Fortunately, the preservation of the space is guaranteed, since they frequently carry out pruning of bushes, cleaning up the stream and providing information to tourists in order to avoid the extraction of quartz, which is totally prohibited.
