Hello everyone, I will be moving on to my next achievement task and it is about plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is the act of using someone's else work, picture, article or idea without giving acknowledgement to the source of origin.
According to Wikipedia,

"Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.[1][2] In educational contexts, there are differing definitions of plagiarism depending on the institution.[3] Plagiarism is considered a violation of academic integrity and a breach of journalistic ethics. It is subject to sanctions such as penalties, suspension, expulsion from school[4] or work,[5] substantial fines[6][7] and even imprisonment." source

• Types of Plagiarism

  1. Direct Plagiarism: This is also known as verbatim plagiarism, is when the plagiarist copy and paste someone's work or change some phrase with his or her own without citing the source.
  2. Self Plagiarism: This is also known as auto plagiarism, is when someone copies his own previously submitted work.
This type of plagiarism is most often thought as being harmless by most person because you cannot be stealing from yourself but it is still as damaging as the rest of the types of plagiarism.
  3. Mosaic Plagiarism: This is when someone borrow phrases from a source which he/she may have mentioned but does not properly putting them in quotation marks.
  4. Accidental Plagiarism: This is when a person neglect to cite their source or misquote the phrases he/she has taken from a source or cites a wrong source.

Here are some ways to avoid Plagiarism
• Always give correct citation of the source you worked with.
• Make good use of quotation marks during your citation.
• Make sure you have done a good research in order to create a unique work and also make use of plagiarism checker to ensure your work is free from plagiarism.
• And avoid wanting to take credit for someone else work.

I have read and understood the Steemit Etiquette on Steemit community and will do my best to embrace them.
