That title is true. How well I know. Oh the horror of it all. But, that is how we learn. By experiment and the resulting experience.
Sad but true. Anything that we do that is easy. Most of the time, we learn little.

But, back to my story. Sunday was pretty much like any other Sunday. I went to church with Pat and the grandchildren.
And I am glad we did. The church is located about 25 miles from us. And there we saw some friends up from Florida. They were surprised to see us there.

Later that evening, I remembered that the "futures market" opened for trading at 6:00 PM Eastern Time.

So I fired up my old trusty trading computer and carelessly glanced at the moving prices.
I had at that point nothing to make a judgement of what could be a good trade. Just a gambling man's hunch. No "trading plan" involved.
Sad.

So around 7:00PM Eastern TIme, I entered my trade. Piece of cake for the taking I thought. Ha
Little did I know. By 9:00 PM I was in the red by a few hundred dollars. That is anathema to me. I was almost in shock.
I thought. Don't they, (the traders,) know. The prices isn't supposed to go that way.
By midnight, I was nearly defeated. But, it was only going to get worse. Ugh

By one o'clock I went to bed. But, I couldn't sleep. I had the computer running and I wanted to see what was happening. So I got back up.
At 4:00 AM I decided to make some coffee. No sleep at this point remember. I was a zombie.
But, the price of my trade was beginning to turn back in my favor.
No, I wasn't praying. Maybe I should have been. Ha

Long story short. After being up all night. At 8:00 AM Eastern.
I was able to close my position with a small profit. I was relieved.
It took 13 hours and 10 minutes to earn the dollar amount showing.

So, I finally went to bed around 10 AM. I was able to sleep maybe two hours. I was up and disgusted.
Of course the dollar price went right to my target after I had exited the trade earlier.

Remember. No "homesteading" or any other work. I did post on Steemit though. At least something was accomplished for my day at that point. Other than my few little dollars.

You guessed it. Around 2:00 PM. I thought I saw another trade set up.
So, at 2:14 PM I entered another trade. And I exited at 3:02 PM.
Same problem. The fear monster had me total in his control. No plan. No resolve. Just a zombie fear.

But, in spite of all my horrible day. I will show you the final result.
A fourteen year old boy or girl would have made at least twice as much.
The opportunity was there. So was my "fear monster."

Here is the 20 hours plus evidence of my trading day. What a day. A zombie all day.

Friends. I am showing you what I do and who I am. I am a "futures trader" and a "homesteader" as well.
Yes, you can add Steemit to that too.
How do I do all that? As you can imagine. I don't. Every day is beyond what I should be doing. Just too much.

I did learn this though. No more Sunday evening trading. How many more all night episodes of fear can I handle?
It is not good at my age. Nor for anyone. Regardless of age.

Thank you for reading about my horrible Sunday night/Monday life experience.
Never again?
Who knows? I am human. Prone to make some mistakes. lol

Ugg! This is pit of your stomach turmoil...adrenaline...never a good thing for anyone repetitively. I'm glad it finally turned around for you.

@rebeccaryan
It was totally my fault. I was just too anxious to have a trading line in the mix/water. That is how fishing is.
Only trading has greater consequences of choosing poorly. I knew what should be. And I was right.
But futures has a way of tricking the traders. I have a good understanding of what will be in the next 24 hours.
But, for the next hour or two. It is tricky. That is why futures traders are few in number.
"The old adage." Trick the greatest number of traders for the maximum pain level. Financial of course.

But, I am a futures trader. It is in my DNA at this point. Or, until my account would be depleted. Ha
But, so far. Over the last few months. I see dollar accumulation.
For how long? That depends on me and my ability to control my emotions. Really rather simple with
that understanding.

Thank you my flower for having concern for my well being. It really does design me. If I would fail.
The pine box could come looking for me earlier than he should. Ha
That is how much I hate defeat.

Francis

Alas, we are wired the exact same @francisk! I hate defeat too and I'd be up in the middle of the night just like you I am afraid.
I would never touch futures trading because it would drive me insane.
Crypto currencies are already doing this to me. LOL!

Dear Rebecca
It would be false for me to say that I have arrived in the futures trading.
Exhibit Sunday evening. Ha
But after many moons of watching.
I can have a good overview of what is showing on the charts.
If.........I will take the time to actually look and study the way I should.
Laziness and carelessness can take its toll on anyone. It looks so easy.

I have to believe that the Crypto Currencies aren't that different.
All markets are based on human emotion. Do we have more sellers? Or do we have more buyers?
Not to be an alarmist. But, I have to wonder if our governments are willing to let us use something other than the "legal currency." I know that Bitcoin has wide acceptance so far.
But, as Bernard von NotHaus found out. Anything that is designated "dollar."
Can bring grief.

I know. Blockchain technology isn't a dollar, or money, or even a currency.
We shall see. That is why diversification.

Francis

I'm working up my nerve to write about this (my excuse for not doing it yet). I think that the crypto market is heavily manipulated, not unlike the silver market. I think we will go through a period of time (don't know how long it will take) where one coin will buy out other coins or coins will get naturally get weeded out until we are only left with the strongest top 50 coins (let say). Over time, I think this process will continue to happen until we are left with only a handful. Then I think the agenda of the New World Order will kick in and use Bitcoin or Ethereum as the one world currency because these coins aren't truly decentralized. Every single one of us will be use to the idea already and who could do anything about it? I think that once this happens, everything (and I mean everything) will be digitized for it's currency value. You won't be able to buy a single thing without the Powers That Be, knowing about it and taking their cut. That's the ugly side of crypto (as I see it).

@rebeccaryan
I can see that you are watching from all angles. I like that about you.
Anything is possible and nothing to be ruled out.
I had heard that (Jamie Dimon) had made some negative Bitcoin comments.
As CEO of J P Morgan, it is safe to say that he is one with his "ear close to/on the ground." Or however the saying goes.
Here is what he said. I do like what you consider to be a possibility too.

Maybe he is just stating what his opinion is and nothing more.

Francis

All we can really do is wait and see what happens....

Yes I'm learning with my new Job that we do learn by experience. I know all about that all night staying awake stuff. It's fun. Until we have to actually function the next day. lol

@countrygalk
I too understand late night work. I worked at General Electric for 13 years on the 3rd shift.
You never really get to a point of normalcy. That could only come to you if you were totally alone.
Nothing to interfere with your morbid schedule.

Francis

Yes , Francis . I understand these are Your experiences. This stress on the body. These sleepless nights. Before the crypto-currencies I was trading on the Forex market. So I have it all in the past. I understand Your condition. We all make mistakes sometimes. But, I say that I'm buying experience. Even at such a dear price.

@madlenfox
I have always heard that the Forex traders do the best of all the various market traders.
That would not be a blanket statement for everyone of course. It takes patience, good knowledge, and
perseverance. Not to mention the startup capital needed.
So, yes. You do have a good understanding of my pain.
I am happy that you overcame all your fears and were victorious.
That is what I am striving for now.
Thank you for your reply and input. I really appreciate it.

Francis

Finances, stress, paying some bills this morning. On the positive side the account is still on the plus side.

@pastorike
As I have written above. No need to try to be what we are not. I am a futures trader first. That is who I am.
While yesterday was nearly a disaster. Today I had too much confidence. That can be a problem too.
But, we prevailed. I may show that tomorrow. I need to get out of here now and do some homesteading.

Francis

very good job,sharing good

@sabbir24
Thank you for you kind comment. I only share what I have done and who I am.
If we do not do that. Then we are trying to be something that we are not.
