Foldable phones, I don't get the point.
It seems like foldable phone is the next big thing in the mobile technology. I can image how hard for such tech to be finally realised in real life, and all the phone vendors starts to treat it as a must have feature for next generation of phone. The reaction of crowd was motivating for this cutting-edge of phone as well.
But I just can't get it. Foldable phone is impressive visually and that's for sure, however I fail to see how innovative it is in term of functionality. It might change the user experience with ordinary phones, perhaps improve the visual experience slightly. But that is not going to justify the crazyass price tags those vendors put on those phones.
I mean, when the fingerprint sensor was first introduced in mobile phone. It might not received a fanatic response but it was truly innovative to improve the user interaction with their phone. No more password typing and screen sliding during unlocking session. The satisfaction is day and night.
But the ability to halve/double the screen size? Not really.
折叠手机似乎是手机界的最新潮流。根据目前所收到的热烈回响，无可避免的未来好几代手机都会在折叠能力上大做文章。我最这个现象就非常的费解，折叠屏幕的技术实现是很了不起，难度也可想而知。但是它带来的实际用户体验，真的有如它们的价格涨幅之大？
当初指纹解锁在手机上出现的时候似乎没有如今这般的热烈反应，对我而言往回头看，那才是真正划时代的体验升级。从按密码和在屏幕上滑动，到轻轻一按就立马解锁，简直不要太爽。

I think pocket projectors are more useful, a few phones even had them integrated or as a simple accessory. The screen can get way bigger and it didnt require such a strange innovation. I wonder if these things break as easily. 3x the screen area to break it seems. Will screen protecors fold? How will cases work? Breaking your 2k phone will not be a pleasurable user experience.

You are right, at this point of time I really doubt that sustainability when it released to the mass public. I guess the folding part of the screen is gonna bet the first part to fail. Cases wise, those vendors will always adapt to the design and come out with something, even if that is something weird. LOL
Transcending from mobile to pad? So in future perhaps our laptop is our mobile phone?

Or laptop is going to be more portable. I can definitely see the trend is happening, but foldable screen is not one of the critical factors to catalyst the process.
Ya lo, a bit noob and become game console feel. Even a bit more bulkier than usual.

3D TV, just another gimmick with a huge price tag.
Because humanity has reached a point where it thinks that it needs a fucking TV screen in their back pocket lol. No screen is big enough. We want more screens!!!
Yeah the tech on mobile has been saturated since long time ago and those phone makers just couldn't break the bottleneck. Camera was the hottest playground, now it's the screen turn.

说的对，时间就是最好的验证，实用的功能始终会被追捧，华而不实的反而会变成累赘。
its like putting ipad into your pocket, just that the price is way too crazy expensive
exactly, I rather bring an extra iPad with me in this case. Works better and cost cheaper, the weight will still be the same tho.
