As it's been quite well documented over the recent weeks most of us are well aware of the Bellyrubbank scam run by the now elusive and disgraced, zeartul. One thing that hasn't been given enough attention to though is the effort @neoxian and a few others have put in to try and help compensate all the people that that were unfortunate enough to lose out in the scam.

Using the available transaction data from the block-chain I decided to have a look at the numbers. To my amazement more than US$60,000 had been given out, so I decided that this positive Steemit story needed a lot more attention. This post is an acknowledgement to @neoxian, @patrice, and @geke for taking it upon themselves to solve a problem that negatively effected a whole bunch of innocent people. Thank you for being quality Steemians and positive roll models to the community.

In the days after it was revealed that zeartul was a scammer @neoxian refunded, in full and out of his own pocket, 2 of the people that were worst effected by the scam, @cryptopie and @darthnava. Both receiving 1000 and 500 STEEM respectively. The rest of zeartuls victims had a generous 30% of what they lost returned to them in both whale upvotes, and his own pocket.

For the rest, I'm willing to pay you back 30 cents on the dollar. So if you put 100 SBD into the bellyrub bank, I'll pay you back 30 SBD. If you wish to be compensated, please file a claim here. Include preferably a link to the blockchain transaction to where you are putting money into the bellyrubbank, and/or at least a screen shot.

DONATIONS

243.168 SBD and 395.76 STEEM was donated, with @cheftony, @alexvan, and @blockgators being the top SBD contributors. Top 3 STEEM contributors were @teemsteem, @trending, and @meesterboom. Well done to everyone that donated.

TOTALS

In total 3936 SBD and 5236 STEEM were handed out in compensation, totaling around US$62,940 at current market prices.

Of the US$62,000 payout, @neoxian paid out the equivalent to US$58,837.02 of it made up of 3692.9 SBD and 4840.74 STEEM.

An extra big special shout out must go to @neoxian for his selfless act of kindness. Not only did he methodically go around giving whale votes to anyone who lost out on upvotes from bellyrub, he also paid over 90% of the compensation payments from his own pocket too.

As the price of SBD and STEEM are quite high at the moment, and with Christmas just around the corner, any money lost to the bellyrubbank scammer is money that most can't afford to lose.
