Waterbirds in summer
In the summer last year i visited eastern austria and lake neusiedler for some photography. There is not only the Lake Neusiedler but also a lot of much smaller lakes in this area and Stefan and i visited the "Zicksee" in St. Andrä for some bird photography. Because the water there is very shallow a lot of water birds are looking for food there in the sand. For example you can find the eurasian avocet there often even in groups of several birds.

The Eurasian Avocets look pretty funny when they search the shallow water with their pecks, and if they are in groups they often do it synchronously. This looks pretty awesome, almost like a dance. Because the lake is very shallow and there is no natural reservat in this area it is possible to do even hide photography there. Every where else in the Lake Neusiedler Reservat Hide Photography is not allowed. But for this picture i didn't even need a hide, the birds came that close to me without even noticing me as a danger for them.

Nice reflections in the water :)

Thank you. Yes in the shallow water this is Not so difficult, and i was there in the morning so the sun also helped me with it.

Great delightful photo!
The Avocet has an interesting curved beak, like tweezers.
Yes, it has, in German this bird is called "Säbelschnäbler". You could translate this to sabre beak.
