RE: ONE WEEK SINCE HF20 - did things get any better on Steemit?

in #steemit6 years ago

It has also come to my attention that the latest update (HF20) has been announced to be a big success right away. And to my surprise, I couldn't even post a single comment. Also, that huge unfortunate screen popping up, explaining that I run out of RC (Resource Credit). I quickly learned, that Im not the only one having similar issues.

I had same situation my friend. My Voting MANA & RC MANA was less than 10. I was not able to upvote or comment.

Right now things seem to be back to "normal". Personally, I cannot find any other change on Steemit except of the mentioned implemented RC.

I actually not researched more in detail. I know that now RC will be use for everything - Posting, Commenting, Editing posts, Comments Editing, Voting, Flagging, Resteeming ,Transferring tokens, Powering up your SP, Even redeem rewards will use your RC.

So far I believe that introducing RC (resource credit) can reduce the amount of spam by a little bit and is forcing bot owners to power up (so spam could continue). At the end of the day each activity (upvotes/comments/posting and even sending memo) costs us some resources and those are very limited. Bot's with no Steem Power (SP) will pretty much be useless. So the amount of spam should be less, which is definetly a good thing.

This new update controlled the spam comments and all (at some point - little or more).

m still not impressed with the fact that regular users may not even understand what RC is about and there is literally no place on the platform to manage/view your current level of RC. The only way is to use other sites like http://steemd.com/ to verify your current resources level. That's just wrong on so many levels. How are new Steemit users supposed to know about it?

It's headache that every time we need to see on other site. This will be problem for new users for sure as they will have low SP as well as they will not connect with more guys as they can't comment and upvote much on others. I am using chrome extension SteemToolbar made by @arcange. @arcange made amazing extension, here I attached the screenshot which will give you more idea about extension.

Whenever we open steemit.com it will give us live insight of Voting MANA, RC MANA and other things. They are adding new things everyday. I show today that they added the MAX Comments and MAX upvote option (little confusing how it calculates) and I think they will add more features to provide better experience.

Not to mention, that this screen explaining that I run out of RC, as well as the need to purchase Steem Power in order to continue ... imagine reading it once you're a new user. Or reading it while you're testing some new platform. Wouldn't you right away click the "close" button with a bitter taste in your mouth?

Agree with you my friend. This will be great challenge for new users.

There are number of things that could have been done better. My impression is that the Steemit developers took care of technical issues and perhaps they made this platform a better place, with very little spam. Perhaps. What I know is that they seem to completly forget about "user experience" which is only getting worse.

Steemit developers made good affords. There are some issues at the moment but I think it's just part of process. I am sure they will do something for this too. They made this amazing platform which is not only great but revolutionary as well. Making it more good and more user friendly will hard for them and in the process user will struggle too. I believe at the end steemit will be survive all things.

Will Steemit turn into a ghost town? I honestly think it will. But perhaps Im wrong.

No I don't think so. I still have faith in this platform and it's developers. I see they are doing all things to support all the users. Like @arcange - who made the extension to help users.

I also just noticed a new feature a moment ago. When you open anyones blog on Steemit you will see “HIDE RESTEEMS/Show all” button. I wonder what to think about this solution. The good thing is that as a default, this setting is showing all posts (including resteemed). I hope it will stay that way. Otherwise resteeming posts will soon not make much sense.

I am having good experience with this button - when I check some accounts this button made easy for me to check users post directly. Yes you are right that this button is placed right and function is correct and it must stay that way . If they change that in to "Show Resteem" in default and it shows resteems when we click on it only then there will be no use of resteem function.

Check out his latest post and show your support. Drop some interesting comment and resteem if you have a chance:

I checked this amazing article already and he made really good explained article.

Great job @crypto.piotr by making this well written article. With this we will get different points of view and other's experience. With this article we may learn new things which we don't know or same way we can help others.
