Love is not an emotion.
Emotions are temporary. One minute you’re excited, the next minute you’re angry. One minute you’re crying, the next minute you’re laughing. Emotions come and go.
But we feel love and we feel anger, so why don’t they belong to the same family? To me, this has been a classic case of “I don’t know what is wrong but I know something is wrong.”
According to Paul Ekman, there are six basic emotions - anger, disgust, fear, happiness, sadness, and surprise. Notice how love isn’t one of them?
Love is not an emotion. Love gets formed over time. It happens as a product of a bonding process. It’s not just a sudden surge or burst of energy in a certain direction.
Love can be said to be a mixture of different emotions. It can also be said to be more of an attitude rather than emotion.
This should explain why love doesn’t just go away. When a breakup happens, or some issues that spiral way out of control, tempers flare, people get hurt, and we react like every normal human would.
At this point, we will say and do anything that’ll prevent us from seeming weak and vulnerable. Many people say things they never mean and they feel no remorse - at the time, but when all the dust settles, the truth shows up.
It might seem like it’s taking forever for the dust to settle but no matter how long it takes, it will eventually happen.
At that point, when the flames of anger have run out of fuel and the sting of bitterness no longer hurts, when you feel the need to reach out again despite everything that has happened, it’s not you being stupid; it’s just the truth coming back to the surface.

Yes, love is more than just emotion. I think it is more like a choice, and when we choose love are emotions are calm and we are at peace.. :)
Thats the absolute truth. It will settle and pass and the memories will even be a laughoff. But this make/make not be repairable again. However, everything can still come to shape in an unprecedented way. Cheers.
