I celebrated my previous follower milestones very religiously until I realized that the most important is not the number of followers but the number of them I’m able to have a positive impact on. This realization probably led me away from the path of doing anything to get those numbers up, to not caring about numbers and instead focus on people.

The biggest proponent of “people power” that I know of here on Steemit is @surpassinggoogle and he’s someone you can learn a lot from even while standing afar.

There’s a saying that you’re the average of the “five” people you keep around you. This means no matter how highly placed you feel you are, if you refuse to impact the lives of those around you, you’ll eventually become like them. There’s no overemphasizing what the value of people is and how much we need to invest in it.

It requires massive amounts of dedication as I’ve come to realize first hand, and it’s not a task for the faint hearted. This doesn’t have to put you off; it should rather inspire you to leave the group of the commons and move into the league of the select few.

Every day I strive to be a better version of the boy that went to bed the night before and so should you. I really don’t expect to achieve it immediately or very easily and so I prepare my mind to always put in the work.

Every day there’s a constant battle between my mind and my body, with the body seemingly coming out on top almost every time! Battles go on and on for as long as there’s no plan to give up. It’s one thing I encourage you to do, when it comes to bettering yourself, don’t ever give up.

Yes I said “bettering yourself” because you can’t give what you don’t have. You need to have substance before you can have a positive impact on others. So if you feel the need to positively impact the lives of others, you have to work on improving on yourself continually.

Since this is some sort of follower appreciation post, I’ve got to thank those who actively follow me. I know how hard of a work it is because I haven’t been doing a good job of it for a while now (hello @dreemit @jedau @kus-knee 🙈). Community service isn’t the easiest of jobs out here lol but I’ll find a balance soon, I believe.

Focus on being useful rather than amassing followers.

The goal is to keep impacting lives either on the frontlines or behind the scenes!
