My Issue With My University.

Hello everyone it's been a while! i missed you all, i hope you miss me too :P

Long story sort i was absent for that long period of time primarily because of a new ''development'' that took place in my college and secondly to be 100% certain of my eye's health. Now i wanna analyze a little more the college part because i consider it completely stupid but what else can i say

Ohh I can say a lot, trust me :P

The first thing you all need to know is a little bit about education in Greece. The ''turn-point'' of your School life is the final exams at the age of 18 that signals the end of your High School Years and the beginnings of your College ones. Depending on the grades you take in those exams you will be given some choices of universities that you can join. The best thing is that all those universities are free of charge so you have nothing to pay, something that isn't entirely true as if you go to a college that is far from your home you should rent a house. 

Other that this you can enroll into a private college that you must pay, you can go abroad or forget about a degree and find a job. Anyway i explained it very briefly but let's continue. The ''free'' universities are divided into Higher Institutes & Technological Institutes. The first ones were supposed to be ''higher'' while the second ones lower that the others and more technological oriented and because of that the technological Institutes couldn't conduct master classes and degrees. 

That's actually had changed a lot time ago but still in the minds of a lot of people both young and old Technological Institutes are still considered second rate. Nowadays the number 1 difference i see is that Higher Institutes classes are more theoretical while in Technological as the name suggests there are more laboratory courses. Also, in Higher Institutes the thesis is not mandatory and the internships vary from 1-3 months without a proper pay while the technological institutes have mandatory thesis and 6 month internships with a good pay i can tell. 

What's my issue?  

At the end of the previous year i supposedly would have graduated. I am in a technological institute and i have done my 6 month practice. Before i take my Thesis they announced that the top 2 technological institutes are gonna merged together forming a Higher one. That doesn't  sounds bad right? it's like an upgrade.  Because my country's bureaucracy sucks a lot and therefore the politics behind we weren't sure if that new upgrade includes my generation or is it for the new ones that enter. 

Nobody knew from other student's to teacher till about a month ago and yes it includes me. Now the second state that nobody knows and it sucks too is that they decide to add another semester with 5-7 courses because i don't know we don't match higher institutes i suppose even though we have the exact same courses :P. All this time i am trying to find out if it's worth to do to this extra courses and take a diploma with the title of higher institute or just take the technological diploma and continue my life. Probably i am gonna choose the first one even though i have no clue about how many classes will be added and when exactly those classes will start. 

In a way most of us have to do the extra courses, meaning at least 6 extra months plus the 1 mandatory year of army after graduation equals lost productive years. Ahh a fun fact i almost forgot is that now that it's going to be a higher education the thesis will not be mandatory and the internships will also be 1-3 months something that from my experience in corporations and hr department, they hate. My university was of the top ones between any other university in the country that companies wanted students for internships. From they perspective it's better to have someone for 6 months, we can trust him better and show him more that from 1-3 months. 

Anyway now that there is some light in this whole situation i am gonna start writing most days of the week!
