This post will never hit the trending page!
Since I joined Steemit one year ago, I had high hopes of achieving something great here together as a united community but it doesn't seem so and I will explain why. Before we jump into it, a few days ago I heard about the date of the first launch of Smart Media Tokens (SMT) if you don't it yet please take some time and visit this site, its worth some of your precious time. I understand the hype about it but I don't believe it's going to be that much of game changer for the economy of steem/steemit, the price may go up a little that's more likely to happen but not crazy wild.
When I start surfing on this platform all I see is users who worship steem and steemit and believe that we're going to disrupt the crypto world, few people discuss the issues of steemit and think for the community rather than themselves.
Just stop daydreaming!
Steemit has been on beta like forever and the interface looks very rudimentary, if we want to attract more investors, the least we should do is to create a more appealing site!
What about the signing up protocol ? I have a friend who took him one week and a half to get his approval? and why the fuck is there an approval anyway, why don't we just make it like facebook, free for everyone around the world and you begin blogging after few clicks? Maybe I'm missing something here so please enlighten me if you have a good answer! Now let's dig more into the platform...
Man, I'm so sick of updates!
When is the last time you heard about an upcoming update on steemit? For me, never! I'm not questioning the role of Ned and the developers, maybe because they are so busy with the SMTs or something else but still we want to see some improvement in the platform from time to time. Who didn't heard of Fortnite these days ? you know why it gained so much popularity? Because its unique and funny but more importantly the developers care so much for the game, new updates almost always!
What can we do for steemit then? All I can think about is to rise awarning through an invasion of the trending page and hope for the best, for my opinion critics work the best.
The Dictatorship Hierarchy...
On steemit, if your post is worth shit but you have one friend with a lot of steem power than you are successful! the opposite is also true if your post is an absolute masterpiece and it got upvoted by hundreds of users but no one of them has a lot of steem power than your post is worthless. To put it simply, a few individuals control the majority of users and that's very bad for business I guess, the strong dominate the weak and make him go away, but you need to remember that the majority of users are minnows and beginners. Ned talked about these issues and covered up clearly this point in the last GOPAX Meetup where he talks about SMTs and a couple of possible upcoming updates.
The concept of Stake Weighted vs Account Based Voting is very promising I guess, each account is worth one vote so the more upvotes you get the more money you make! But what about investors? well, he has also a solution for them, it includes creating a passive income for them to protect their investment. The main challenge will be of course creating security protocols for multiple accounts voting, it's challenging but a step forward is better than doing nothing and don't forget that we still on beta so we need to experience in order to find the best hierarchy.
Fight or flight ? Its always flight!
Many YouTubers and famous bloggers came to this platform but they didn't stay, do you know why? Because they were not successful, why spend a couple of hours on making a good post which brings a couple of cents instead of making hundreds of dollars on another site? Maybe, they were not familiar with the hierarchy of the site and its such a huge loss for us! We need these people to flourish, they are good publicity but more importantly free publicity, who doesn't want that? I can't really find of a good solution to deal with this problem, I thought maybe it will be helpful to create a small group or community composed of whales because most of the time they are the best around here, their main job is to spot and promote these visitors and make them stay! (Invite them to a drink or kidnap them I don't care, just do it)
If you think that this is a little bit unfair, well its partially true but remember as the community rises you rise with it as well so it's a win/win procedure, anyway if you have other suggestions let me know.
Why this post will never hit the trending page?
Today the trending page is a joke because there so many empty posts dominating it,
if you are still confused about the title of the article, I will explain it to you. In the beginning, the idea was to make this post very catchy to reach the maximum audience but there's a really good reason behind it, on steemit if you want to make money with your article, there are four main ways:
- Promote your post with bid-bots (but I don't have the money to do so)
- Get rewarded by some community which promotes good quality content.
- Have a couple of friends who upvote you consistently
- Be rich and have a ton of steem power.
Do you see write a good quality content? Absolutely not! and that's the sad truth about steemit, I'm not against using these ways to make your post successful but when the post is worse than it's hurting the community. There are much better solutions!
First of all, bid bots are good promoting tools and everyone who owns many has the right to promote his content good or bad, one simple solution is to label these posts under promoted posts so that we can differentiate them from well-written posts.
A bright future!
Although all these problems, steemit is still a very good project with an innovative idea, we achieve the top 1000 sites in the world in a couple of years and our blockchain has the most traffic in any existing blockchain. Did you know that the number of users exceeds 1 million? That's very good for a beta site.
Not to mention the curation communities who encourage good content writers and make steemit a better experience, maybe the price will not reach 10 USD in the near future but we have a solid work here. The best thing you can do is to invite your friends and family to this platform, stay active and always criticize things you don't like to better change the ecosystem, feeding our selves beautiful lies isn't a good strategy.
Hi! @fancybrothers WOW!!! This is the greatest post I 've read lately! I mean it!!! You are absolutely right on everything you write! I agree 100% of course and I hope you post more articles like this, it will be an oasis among all these shit posts published daily!!! I was about to write something similar and I 'm happy you did it first because you express the problems better than I could do it...! I want to thank you for this post (It's the first time I thank somebody for his post) and the community should do so. Next days I 'll write something similar of course and I 'll let you know. I upvoted, resteem it and follow you! I 'll keep visiting your blog and upvote your articles. Have a nice Friday, an excellent weekend and great posts like this!
You're welcome man, there's no need for all this praising :) I did it for the community and I hope people do the same and better..
Hi! again @fancybrothers Thanks for replying, I do not usually praise, but by reading your article I was excited! The fact that in a community that counts a million members, few to no one writes anything that could help improve the platform, disappointed me. For months and months, I have seen everything you write and I expected to read similar reviews from other users as well. Unfortunately, few mentions these existing problems and fewer mentions the incomprehensible denial of the platform's "leaders" to deal with these problems and improve the situation. In my opinion, it is difficult to change something if the platform is practically controlled by a few high-ranking ones in a completely absurd hierarchy. This has resulted in many worthy content creators leaving the platform, as you rightly say. And the novices will sooner or later either get bored and they will leave or they will stay trying with the least effort to win the few pennies they are attributed to. In this way, however, the platform does not win in quality and loses its reputation at the time when new similar platforms come out on the scene with better organization and specifications. I'm very afraid the platform will end up being a kind of Facebook... I hope this does not happen because I really like the concept and it is a pity we can not take advantage of all the possibilities and prospects it can offer. An innovative social networking tool such as steemit could change a lot in the world thanks to a quality community with enough financial independence. But to do this, the conditions must first be created and I do not think this is the case at present. I hope and wish for the best! We talk again later, have a nice weekend always and... great posts!!!
Alas, but it's true
