Mädesüß-Perlmuttfalter ■ Lesser marbled fritillary

Der Mädesüß-Perlmutterfalter ist ein Tagfalter aus der Familie der Edelfalter (Nymphalidae). Den Falter findet man bevorzugt auf feuchten, nährstoffreichen und naturbelassenen Wiesen mit angrenzendem Wald. Als Nahrungspflanze bevorzugt der Schmetterling violette Blüten wie Disteln und Flockenblumen. Dass es hiervon auch Abweichungen gibt, zeigen meine Bilder. Die Raupe ernährt sich von echtem Mädesüß (Filipendula ulmaria) aber auch von anderen Pflanzen, wie dem großen Wiesenknopf (Sanguisorba officinalis) und Orchideen, wie das fleischfarbene Knabenkraut (Dactylorhiza incarnata) werden in der Fachliteratur genannt. Ob das Ei oder die Raupe überwintert, ist bisher noch nicht eindeutig geklärt. Letzteres scheint aber wahrscheinlicher, anhand der Raupenfunde im zeitigen Frühjahr. Der Falter fliegt in einer Generation von Mai bis August. In Unterfranken ist der Falter nicht häufig, während er im Süden von Deutschland noch weit verbreitet ist.

The lesser marbled fritillary is a butterfly from the family of Nymphalidae. The butterfly is preferentially found on damp, nutrient-rich and natural meadows with adjoining forests. The butterfly prefers violet flowers such as thistles and flake flowers as a food plant. My pictures show that there are also deviations from this. The caterpillar feeds on real meadowsweet Filipendula ulmaria but also on other plants like the great burnet Sanguisorba officinalis and orchids like the early marsh-orchid Dactylorhiza incarnata are mentioned in the literature. Whether the egg or the caterpillar hibernates does not yet seem to be clear. The latter seems more probable, however, based on caterpillar finds in early spring. The butterfly flies in a generation from May to August. In Lower Franconia the butterfly is not common, while it is still widespread in the south of Germany.
