Mycroplastic is a form of fragment measuring 5 millimeters or smaller. A study in the United States revealed bad news from marine mammals. The study looked at microplastic "infections" in the digestive system of marine animals stranded off the coast of America. The researchers found microplastic material in each creature they tested. The sample used in this study was taken from 50 animals by members of the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme and the Cetacean Strandings Investigation Program.

The researchers found 84 percent of the plastic in sea creatures were synthetic fibers from products such as fishing nets and clothing. While the rest is plastic from food and beverage packaging. The results of the study showed a greater number of microplastic animals that died from infection than sea creatures that died by other causes. But it is not yet clear whether these plastics cause infections in marine mammals.

The results of the research have shown that plastic has polluted our environment to affect all the clay animals in the sea. The first step to overcome plastic problems is of course by limiting its use.
