What is it Like Attending a Steemfest?
Not even 24 hours since Steemfest 3 has wrapped up for me and life seems to have reverted back to some kind of normality. Feeling pretty sad about it coming to an end but I've got some great memories too. So, what's it like attending a Steemfest for those out there who've never been to one?
Well, to sum it up in a word, "intense". From the opening dinner onwards, you'll be grouped within hundreds of Steemians, many of whom you'll already be familiar with by username. Having long and detailed discussions is next to impossible, for just as soon as you get into a deep and meaningful with someone, another Steemian enters the fray and focus is divided once more. Though not a bad thing by any means, as the initial part of Steemfest is all about the casual introductions and nothing more. Literally, there will be no time for anything else!
Afterwards, as the following day begins and the event is now well into the swing of things, planning is of the essence. Every fest I've been to has featured dual presentations running parallel to each other. And because most run concurrently, strategizing which ones you'll be wanting to see live, is advisable. Although it will be possible to get a chance to see the recorded versions at home later on, that kind of defeats the purpose of actually going there, right? :)
However after the presentations are over, things aren't over by a long shot. There are several extra-curricular activities scheduled on the Steemfest itinerary as well as other unofficial side entertainment workshops organised by other Steemians. Because of this, you will be getting home late, hence sleep will be extremely limited. So be prepared for the old "red eye" through much of the entire event. Though with all the dizzying excitement and pure atmospheric "buzz" from it all, your body should be able to produce enough adrenaline to see you through to the end nicely.
But after all in said and done, expect to know a hell of a lot more people than when you first got there. Thanks to @roelandp and his impeccable skills in hosting these events, the aim is to expand your social network, have an extraordinarily awesome time doing it and building long lasting friendships. It's certainly worked for me as one of my best friends to date has all been thanks to this event. Nothing is stronger than the bonds forged between common human interaction and a perfectly showcased example of this can be found here. This is by far the best aspect of attending these events.
Since the very first Steemfest, it has managed to transform my life. In innumerable ways, but all of them monumentally good. I do urge every Steemian out there to attempt to make it to the following one (or ones!!!) as the same can happen for you. I see Steem as encompassing more than just a simple blockchain. And things are on their way to get way better still gong forward into the future.
Haha intense is the same word I use but feel people will think I am crazy when I say that but its so true, I think this was a great description on Steemfest @ezzy definitely rings true for me.
