Am I the Only One That Hates Flying?

in #life6 years ago

The hassle of pre-flight nerves and paranoia. It can be really stressful, to put it mildly. Making a checklist of all the things you need to take with you. Making sure you got all the essentials instead of remembering them when at the airport itself. That's how I see days like this. So thank heaven I've got an ultra organised wife to assist me in times of such turmoil and strife...

Call me sexist, but I honestly think women's sense of organisational skills are far superior than your average man. Admittedly, I'm a prime example of that. Even when it comes down to choosing which clothes to take with me, my brain forcibly tries to shutdown as well as delegate responsibility to the next best option. In my case, the wife.

And not only that, but she's also got her own flight to catch within the next several hours. Damn, I've well and truly bagged myself a good missus, right? Lol, but seriously, I'm not the greatest when it comes to airplane travel and always feel the tension as the time draws near. But the good thing is that an awesome time is awaiting on the other side. Chilling out with @exyle and @bkdbkd will make everything right with the world again, so that's most certainly taking away most of the sting of my pre-flight nerves.

I've got an early start too. Waking up at around a quarter to five in the morning and boarding the scheduled plane at eight. In some ways, that's not too bad since it means I can maximise on the rest of the day out there. There's a party that we'll all be going to tomorrow evening that should prove to be quite cool too. A week of good times and great memories lie ahead.

Not too long to go. Now, where did I last see my passport?

Bus ride from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur: about 4 to 5 hours.
Flight time about an hour, plus check in time and transport out of KL airport to city totals about 4 to 5 hours too.
Cost of bus ride win to this route. Yes, they have to stop 2 or 3 times so people can go toilet. :-)

I hate flying as well as the process to ensure we are safe is so time consuming and stressful! In my case, not only is the preparation stressful but I also count every minute while flying as I hate the feeling of not being in control of something happening. You would think that a person with over 500k miles flown would be used to it by now!

Wow, those are some serous miles you clocked up there, pal! Well, glad to know I'm not the only one who feels that way. :)

I used to just throw stuff in the suitcase at the very last minute but am getting better now that I'm traveling more frequently. Packing cubes have helped me with my organization, I don't know what I did without them. They're zippered, nylon cubes that fit into rolling luggage --- a large one for pants, middle-sized for shirts, and small for socks/underwear. I still haven't gotten to the point where I can just bring a carryon and not check a bag though...that's one of my travel goals for 2019. Hope all is well! Enjoy your trip and Merry Christmas!

I'll bear in mind the "cube" idea! Sounds like it could do wonders for me before I travel. Thanks for the awesome advice, Eric!

Have the merriest of Christmas's too during this holifay holiday season. Wishing you the very best. :)

Have a great time!

It'll be a steem focused Christmas for you guys no doubt?! Have a good one.
