Vlog 290: Active users on the blockchain much higher than I thought + A couple of reasons apps will benefit from an SMT.
I always use the stats from @penguinpablo to stay up to date about the amount of active users on the blockchain.
He recently changed it to "Daily accounts transacting" after a comment by @jerrybanfield here.
I never thought about it before but it makes perfect sense that there is a huge difference between accounts making transactions on the blockchain (up-voting/commenting/posting) and users that come across all the different frontends the steem blockchain has to offer (dtube, dlive, dsound, busy.org for instance) and don't interact at all but read/watch content.
I do this all the time on youtube for instance.
I watch content but I don't interact. Yet I am a active user and (most likely) very valuable to youtube.
I just don't know yet how we could calculate 'active users' and if it's even possible.
It's a very interesting question. But it's surely much higher than "Daily accounts transacting".

There was a question (by @gikitiki) I got after my vlog from yesterday where I believe steepshot could benefit from an SMT.
The question he asked was why apps would use an SMT and not just use STEEM? here.
Two reasons I gave were:
- Different people trending because SP has no influence. (the SMT will).
- No need to buy/get delegated a huge stake for the app developer to have influence on their own app.
There are more reasons I think off.

Excuse me, but i couldn’t get the main ( direct 2 reasons ) Why apps Will benefit from SMT better than from steem! Is there something i am behind to understand?
I am glad to see that Active users on this great platform are gradually increasing. Yes, i agree , there are many active users who view the content but don't interact, should those also be placed in active category...

There should be an upvote button for people with no account. A guest upvote. Like if my post on reddit brings a 1000 views here I should get rewards..
Not only apps would be beneficial of SMT’s. I’m certain SMTs drastically improove Steem value. It already did, but it also will. Smart media tokens will expand the powerful steemit platform and ecosystem which could include ICO’s. That’s just the small part of SMT. Can you imagine how enormous Steemit ecosystem could be?

I like those two reasons for SMTs @exyle. The sooner the better as far as I'm concerned. Steemit seems to be getting more and more flooded with spam accounts and posts. It's a huge waste of time having to trawl through them. 😢
I would suggest you start muting them. That way spammers will disappear from your posts and others posts and you won't see them anymore.
You're right. And I do mute the comments @exyle. I was thinking about the accounts that follow and unfollow me on a regular basis that clog up my feed in GINA. There doesn't seem to be any way to stop them.
I don't understand why they are allowed to continue. a-0-0 joined in january. It is muted and it has a rep of (-6). All it does is resteem posts, many of which are similar spam accounts so are probably the same person.
It has 36237 followers, has made 57768 posts and is following 373322 other accounts. That's just the first one in the list. There are loads of similar ones.
A friend of mine joined Steemit 10 days ago and has made a decent post every day. She already has 55 followers and every one of them is a spam or bot account. It's getting increasingly ridiculous! 😢

This type of data makes me think that we shouldn't try to find anymore information about STEEM blockchain or steemit, because every data that we find is always saying that the community is bigger than everybody expected, it is ridiculous how big this is getting, and we are losing track of how big this growth is... :D
Don´t get me wrong, this project still very small, but we are talking of millions of people already involved in such a low amount of time.
activeness is the major key for any platform and steem blockchain is always on top of that :)
