TrailTuesday - Trail Dog Tuesday - Running with Ghost!
My dog Ghost (aka Spokie in Afrikaans) are now about 8 months old and I can start running short distances with her. The plan is to make her a proper trail dog (aka extreme jogging dog).
The run was a bit of a struggle with me pulling her for about 2km, since she wanted to sniff everything, and then her pulling me for 2km when she realised we were heading back home. It's going to take time and patience, but I can't wait until she gets it! ;)
Do you guys run with your dogs? Any tips?

Really nice pictures, especially the one with the sun behind the trees. As for running with your dog, I think it just requires practice and patience for him to learn what you want him to do. Good luck and I hope he'll be the best runner!

The best advice I've ever gotten with stuff like that is to take an older, already trained dog with you. The pups tend to follow the lead and learn much quicker than they do on their own. It makes your life easier.
If you have access to an older, trained dog you should give it a try.

I have a friend with a Golden Retriever that runs with him, maybe we should take them out together.
It takes away so many of the pains of trying to train a pup! :-)
I run with my dog all the time! It's the best - she never complains ;) The best investment i made was a belt leash, keeps my hands free, and her close to my body. After a few runs she got the hang of it, no pulling and I don't have to worry about her tearing after a squirrel.

That russell looks kind of long, does it have some dachshund in it?
No it doesn't, it is purebred. It is the short-legged version, so maybe that is why it looks longer? ;)
