Whiteiswhite Architecture - Aldeia da Luz
This is a church in a small town in Portugal called Aldeia da Luz. The town has an amazing story to it.
When you walk out of the village you will see a beautiful lake. And in the depth of this largest man-made lake in Europe are ruins of the previous village of Luz.
What happened then?
There was a plan of constructing a dam and creating a big artificial lake. But there was this one little village on a way that would have to be flooded. Instead of relocating all the people that lived there to different places, the government reconstructed the village just as the old one few km away. It is so strange to walk around. All the buildings are so new, trees are small, almost like some model town. All that happened about 15 years ago it is still missing that coziness... a bit like moving to a brand new home. It takes a bit of time until it becomes a home.

And the lake is amazing! And if you don't know the whole story you would just wonder why the roads around end up inside the water...

Thank you! It was actually a coincidence. We were there only a few hours and the clouds were keeping us company :) And I am glad, with blue sky it wouldn't be that interesting...
