What the hell did just happen man? Why the hell is nobody talking about this besides you and me? Almost 1 hour and no access at all. In my frustration I started watching dragon ball super again

I'm in Michigan and could not log on to steemit as well. I could go to any of my regular haunts except steemit.
I couldn't get on for serveral hours, it seemed. The alternative sites also didn't work. I thought that it was a DDOS attack.
A DDOS attack resistent "system status" web site could easily be set up on a CDN such as the one offered by Rackspace. (My web site is served by that CDN so theoretically cannot be brought down by a DDOS attack.)

Steemit (and steem) has quite a few world class developers attending it pretty much full time. I'd have thought they'd know about what you said.
Technology changes so fast that no one can "know it all". OTOH, I don't know if they've already thought of it (and done it) or not. I could use my own colocated servers to set up a system status page for the steem blockchain if there is a compelling interest and if no one has done it already. I would use static pages served by the Rackspace CDN, so attackers would not be able to take down the status pages.
It's been down on and off for the past 8 hours. Very slow.
I've been visiting relatives today...I hadn't noticed earlier.
I thought the blockchain itself had failed. But then Steepshot was working. Nobody talking about it because they are too busy changing their underwear.
I was certainly concerned. I've spent the better part of two years...ten hours a day...working on here. I'd purely hate to see it all lost.

I kinda, sorta back em up...I have my 'book' mostly written in another format using Scrivner.
I 'copy-past' and reformat to Steemit when I want to post. Most I could loose would be the formatting.
Other stuff...commentary on newz...I wing it.
If I loose it...too bad.
I also had a terrible time about two hours ago, when I did not get access to the platform; the first time this happens to me ... I got very bad thoughts, I thought the worst; but, about an hour ago I managed to enter and work. What a relief!

a few months ago Steemit had an DDOS attack. It lasted a few DAYS.
In that case however only Steemit was affected. The blockChain itself was accessible via other portals...unlike today.
I wonder what happened?
That is one of the few things that does not seem logical in Steemit and is that being a platform where information and communication is continuously crossed in every way, why is not there an official version of the administrators of the platform regarding this type of problems?...Well, at least I have not seen it
