Hi great people, it's a privilege to be here again, I'm grateful and at the same time excited that my achievement 1 & 2 were approved. Thank you so much for reading through, up voting and your words of encouragement in your comments. I promise to follow the community's guidelines and try my best as much as I can. Now, I am here to write about Plagiarism.

What is Plagiarism?

Plagiarism is the act of using another person's work or idea without proper acknowledgement of the the original owner. The work could be copying and pasting of material/text, images etc.

"the process or practice of using another person's ideas or work and pretending that it is your own:" https://dictionary.cambridge.org/dictionary/english/plagiarism

Types of Plagiarism

1. Complete Plagiarism

This is when a writer submits another person's work as his/her own with his name instead of the original owner.

2. Direct Plagiarism

This is when a writer passes another person's word as his/her own.

3. Paraphrasing Plagiarism

This is when a writer changes few words or phrase in the original work.

4. Patchwork Plagiarism

This is when a writer mixes his/her work with another person's work.

5. Accidental Plagiarism

This happens when a writer does not know he/she is plagiarising.

Effect of Plagiarism

Plagiarism can destroy ones reputation and work.

How to Avoid Plagiarism

Keep records, by writing down or noting the materials or sites you have used in the course of your research. Do well to quote, paraphrase and cite them accordingly to acknowledge the original owners.

Conclusion

Plagiarism is bad, it demeans the original owner, it is taking credit for what you ordinarily do not deserve. It can also destroy your work and reputation, desist from it.
