Life in the Most Expensive City in Metro Manila

Hello Steemit friends! The Elevator Girl is back! As promised, I will show you what's in it living in the most expensive city in the Metro. So, this morning I’ve decided to walk around my city to show you guys around (Well, of course, with my white as snow BritGuy).  

 

I happen to be living in the most expensive city in the metro, at Bonifacio Global City, or simply known as BGC. And so far, for 8 years living in this area, it has been great! Everything I need is just a few blocks away from my home! And you might be wondering how I do it (surviving here), for just an average earner like me. Well, it takes a lot of smart hacks to survive in this luxurious city, I’ll reveal that on my next blog, haha! 

BGC is one of the most fast-thriving cities in Metro Manila. It’s a walled city, wherein, everything that you need in your everyday life is within you reach. It is one of the favorite recreational areas for expats and locals alike. And the central business hub for most foreign and local companies. And now, it has been one of the most chosen retirement sanctuaries for our old folks. 

Too good to be true? Well, check it out yourself and see why this place has been known as the safest and the most ideal place to live in. 

Just 6km!  

This lovely city is just 10 minutes away from the airport (at 3am, when the traffic is light, lol). Plan your trip ahead, book a condo online or a hotel, and you’ll be relaxing in a nice comfy bed in no time. Just a warning though, this is still part of Metro Manila where traffic is one of the worst in the world, so, expect that you might be spending half of your life inside the taxi. Book an earlier flight if you must!

Safe and Secured  

Lost in the city? No need to worry. BGC has guards and marshals everywhere, in every corner of the city! And they will be more than happy to assist you in whatever mishaps you may have. It’s so safe here that you’ll never have to be paranoid when walking on wee hours. But be very cautious, this city doesn’t tolerate violations, even the petty ones. You can get towed if you park in a tow-away zone, they won’t let you off the hook that easily (even if you cry). 

Pet-Friendly

Dog and cat lovers, here is your paradise! BGC is the most pet-friendly area you’ll find. They would let your pets go inside malls, restos and cafes. Given that, you have them on leash and you always have your poo bags with you and be ready when they take their poopies. By the way, those are my dogs, Sofia and Sam. 

Are you a Fitness Freak?  

If you are, then BGC should be on the top of your list! There are gyms and parks everywhere, it’s crazy! You can simply go in one of the parks and run (if you don’t have the dough for a gym membership), or check out those state-of-the-art 24/7 gyms and CrossFit centers we have around. Determination is all you need to get rid of those love handles.

Shop, shop, shop! 

If you’re the type who’s always in style, then BGC is perfect for you! You can find all the posh shops here that offer the top brands and latest designs, only the trendy ones please! So, get those feet ready, round-up all your friends and shop like a queen! 

Foodies!!!

Filipinos loooove to eat! I’m sure anyone can’t say no to food too, especially good food! Just across my former office (which is a 15-minute walk from my condo), you’ll find all kinds of food. Japanese, Chinese, Italian, Korean, American, Thai, Mexican, Filipino, you can’t possibly run out of new places to eat with the wide array of dishes that you’ll find in BGC. And if you love coffee, tea and pastries, we have hundreds of shops around the city! All you need to do is to explore them.

NightLife 

Every night, a new adventure unfolds in this city that never sleeps. BGC is the home of high-end bars and rage parties – and still get to be safe! We have a lot of bars and music lounges that offer all types of beers and cocktails that you can imagine. You can get yourself really wasted and just let the night fade away. 

Flats. Condos. Hotels.

With the aim of making BGC the center of luxury and convenience, you can only book hotels and rent or purchase a condo or a flat. No traditional houses here. However, the good thing about these dwellings, they’ve got all you need and it’s just a block away from your office (that is, if you’re not jobless like me!). Swimming pools, gyms, courts and lifetime inhouse maintenance services for your home for a minimal fee. These are all worth your money, like you won’t have to spend too much digging up your own pool!

How About Jobs? 

BGC is the center of businesses in the Metro! Never will you get to be a bum for more than a week! Most of the companies here are ramping every single day, especially call centers. If calling irate customers doesn’t suit you, there are other companies to choose from, such as banks, IT services, stock exchange, publications and many more. So, when you finally decide to leave your game console and your rotting couch behind, get those neatly pressed suit and start applying for a job! It will be a few blocks away from your flat, anyway. 😊 

Health Care. Education. Learning. Family 

One of the best things I love in this place, is its utmost care for the community. BGC provides the best health care services through its highly-advanced hospital facility. And with education, you’ll find a lot of international schools here that caters to all. We also have a world-class museum that offers out of this world science galleries and exhibits. And to top it all, we always have free family days! The kids just love those fun-filled activities at the park.

Getting Around BGC

  Some of you might think that going around BGC is difficult. Wrong! There are 5 ways to explore it. 

• Private cars. If you have it, then, use it. Be sure to have your map with you, you might get lost. But the guards and marshals are around, so, no worries! 
• Grab, Uber or Taxi. These are car booking services that you can get by using their app. You can simply hop on to one and conveniently go around BGC. Tip, check if they’re on “surge”, or else, you’ll get ripped off! You might end up paying ₱300-500 for just 1 ride. 
• Bus. Low budget? Then, take the bus! It will only cost you ₱12 to go around the city. 
• Jeep. Lower budget? Then, take the jeep! ₱8 is all you need to go to the mall. However, they don’t take the main roads where the best places are. 
• Walk. No budget? Put on your training shoes and walk around the city. BGC is environment-friendly and trees are everywhere, it will really be enjoyable as you pass by your nature-inspired surroundings. But don’t dare walk in midday, we are still a tropical country, you might get burned.   

Well, I don’t wanna brag too much about BGC, but it’s really the greatest place to stay in Manila! Hope you can get to enjoy it the same as I do and visit the city. Who knows, we might bump into each other and have some tea.
